Can you think of a way that you could loan it out without getting ripped off?

I have the old model, not digital. I bought it for $200. I havent' seen one around for a while. Mine came from a guy in Europe who had a handful of them. Pretty handy little item.

I bought one of these testers a couple years ago on the forum at an even higher cost. They are quite hard to get ahold of.

Though it is something nice to have I guess, to be totally honest it is not as useful as you think. There are very few times when I could not get an accurate reading from my piston tester (valve still installed). The ONLY time this tool is really that valuable is when you suspect that one or 2 faces are not sealing properly but that the 3rd face is. Such as a cracked apex seal, stuck apex seal, broken side seal, etc. These rare cases are the only ones that an experienced eye will have a hard time distinguishing with a $25 piston tester.

For tests performed when you know that no seals are broken (just to get an overall number/health) I prefer the piston tester. The flexible hose is easier to install (especially on an FD) than the big metal sensor head. I like using a $25 tool instead of a $1200 tool. I've already had to send the digital tester out for service once, and it took 4 months and $500 to repair it due to no fault of my own (internal electronic failure). Owners of this tool, hope you never have to do the same, because the company that handles the repairs is slow and communicates about as well as a brick wall.

There was someone on this forum that made his own compression tester. The costs were around $350. Someone do a SEARCH for me please...

As RR says, I hope this sucker never breaks. I had been told the support has horrible--it can take up to a year to get the tester back from the repair facility.

Sniper X, that scam thing def sucks.

snkydvl, drive on down to jersey and we'll fire it up

Have any of you looked into a differential compression tester, which should work well on thes engines, and can be had for about $130?
