Could someone run down the process of installing a downpipe in a easy to understand order,from start to finish?

 

nevermind,i just found instructions on how to install downpipe.

 

Take off stock one and put on new one...... its like 6 bolts....if that

 

6 bolts + all the other misc stuff like the intake piping etc. Think it took me a few hours, especially if the6 bolts are stuck on or if you need to take off the studs

 

Get you some PB Blaster. I didn't snap a single stud.

there isn't much to see. The removal and install is just 6 bolts total. The biggest problem is the access to the bolts and the fact that the bolts are typically frozen.

I would soak the area with PB blaster before going after them. People have been able to do the removal under the car in the driveway. My mechanic did mine and glad he did. Rather him bust the knuckles than me!

i had a mechanic do it... he quoted me $300 or something like that to do the pipe and change all 4 of my brake rotors, replace my brake pads (front and rear), and install SS brake lines (i provided all parts)... then when i picked it up, he said, and i quote "******' pipe." they spent over 9 hours getting the old precat out and putting the new dp on, so needless to say, i was quite pleased with my $300 bill and not having to do it myself.

 

IIRC, it took me about 4 hours including removing the necessary shields, the O2 sensor, and the pre-cat. The DP installation was easy since I used the HKS unit which fit very well. I re-used the original gaskets and had no problems.

 

IMO if the car has over 75K miles and the stock dp has never come off then have someone else do unless you really want a headache. It is an easy job but can get real ugly real fast.
