Hi all,
I'm trying to make a decision here on whether to buy lane_change 's white FD or not. I'm a 22 year old but will have some disposable cash for wutever ( around 5000 ) after the sale.
But I'm not sure If i'm making the right move because I own a 2004 rx8 which is very reliable as a daily driver. If i purchase this FD it will be my second sports car.
I'm not a total lunk head in rotary but no expert either.
What I'm trying to ask is,, will this be a good move for me to sell the 8 and get his 7? I really want more power from an 8, but its just so expensive to make this car as fast as 7. But I don't want to lose the reliability by purchasing this 7 either.
So its kind of tough to make decision.

I couldn't agree more, sell the 8 get the fd and buy a beater dd.

 

I can't afford to buy 2cars now cuz of insurance issue...

 

My insurance went down when I got my civic for a daily driver...

 

Do you want the car? If so buy it! That car is beautiful.Look at his mods,some serious cash has been invested into that car.In my humble opinion it is much better to buy a car that is already done Right.

 

keep the 8 and keep your money

 

Keep the 8. RX7's are money ****** regardless of how nice they are to start with and making them reliable enough to daily drive them is like getting a second job in terms of the work involved to keep it healthy and happy (I daily drove mine for 2.5 years) .

Basically if cost and reliability are two important factors for you, then keep the 8 .

 

keep the RX8. or sell it and get a subaru. u will have more money and be happier in 4 years. does lane changes FD have a new motor and turbo?

 

My last fd and my current one has been very realiable.Much more than my 98 c5, or my 95 z28 vert.Maybe i have just been lucky or smart enough to buy fds that were were taken care of and not beaten to death.After the rx8 warranty expires he will be in the same boat anyway.

 

I don't daily grind the car....you could, but why would you want to? Maybe it's just me, but I have never been into driving my nice cars to and from work daily...they are toys, daily's are cheap good gas mileage vehicles like Civics, Sentras, etc...

If you do decide to persue this avenue, I would buy a cheap $500-1000 car that gets 30mpg or better...trust me, 2 cars is alot cheaper on your insurance than just one, especially when you don't have to declare to driving an FD 15-20k miles/year....a beater car is the best ide financially, not just for insurance, but for gas mileage, wear and tear, etc...

But.....you "could" dd this car, I have drove it for days on end....but I always chose to, I never had to.

 

yes, with an FD, you DEF need a DD, almost 95% of the time

if you dont want to get another car, keep the 8 because warranty is your best friend..dont be fooled..you're young and cars can certainly ruin a young man's life..i seen it over and over..and since FD's are a drug, its very easy to get caught in fixing these things causing debt..

Do you have a house and/or garage? If not, take care of that first. The best thing you can do for any car is to give it a "good" home.

 

I am also 22. Just bought an FD w/ incredibly low miles. My daily driver is a 94 saturn. If you have extra cash in case something happens w/ the FD or the DD, then do it. Otherwise, financially the best thing is to have a really nice car (rx8), but just envy the 7's. 7's are usually a lot of upkeep . . . 8's can definately get the ladies tho, cuz they have no clue.

 

rx8's suck....sell it and buy a 7 & do some reliability mods and you'll be fine

 

I don't have money to buy the house yet
I want to DD the FD cuz I would love to drive it everyday!!!
But I think I'll just wait for the day when I can afford both the 7 and 8...
