I want to get a 3rd gen RX-7 and I was wondering what some of the most common problems are so I can avoid them.

when buying one you'll want to have a compression test done, and also check to see if the boost pattern is right, 10-8-10. these two links below should help you. i'm not sure how many common problems there are in fd's. one that comes to mind is the fuel filter getting clogged, or the ast cracking. nick
