Angry I live in wheel hell.....

I went into the Big City (Wichita) today, looking for wheels.

I like the mesh style, such as FISKE FM-10, RACING HART C2, KOENIG Imagine, or ENKEI Aegis.

One place has some HRE wheels that rocked, but they wanted $1500 a wheel, no ******* way!
The only other place had only ENKEI Aegis, and even then it was catalog shopping, and they wanted $700 for 18 X 8.5, plus shipping and handling.....
Seemed kind of high.
It was funny though, when I came out there was a group of about 9 guys admiring my car, telling me it rocked, asking how fast it was, etc.
These were Honda and Mitsu guys buy the cars in the parking lot....sort of neat! They were cool, not shitty like some.

The uncool guy was the dude with the baggy pants, wanting to fit some 19" or 20" wheels under his......Cavalier....I kid you not!

So, does anyone else have like a store they go to and actually SEE the wheels they are thinking about?

I can drive to OKC, or Dallas/Ft. Worth, or somewhere like that......Kansas City, maybe?

i have an import shop close by me. they usually have a bunch of wheels just chillin there on the showroom floor. before i ever went to this shop, i was crazy over Blits Technospeed Z1s. they are nice wheels. but after i saw them in person, i didnt really like the look of the rim. that ended my love affair with the Z1s.

chillin right there next to the Z1's were a set of VOLK IIIs and Racing Hart C2s. this is where i fell in love with mesh racing wheels. these wheels look AMAZING in person. words can not describe it. i sat there for a few minutes staring at them, pissed at myself for never really paying attention to these style of wheels.

so yeah...pics do not do justice for wheels. you gotta see them in person. i would reccomend Racing Hart C2s. they look .

BTW, do not even think about KONIG wheels. they are a rice knockoff wheel manufacturer.

sorry if this had nothing to do with your post...just sharing a similar incident where seeing wheels in person was involved.

Koenig wheels

Koenigs are not bad wheels at all. I've had two sets and both of them were great for the money that they cost.

No, it's cool....exactly what I was getting at....I am NOT going to order wheels online or from a catalog without looking at and/or touching them...especially if I am going to shell out two or three thousand bucks for them!
I just wish I could go to big showroom that had some of those wheels I mentioned....there isn't anything like that in my local area......

I can't think of anyplace with a big showroom. I was just looking for the same type of wheels and spent many hours searching the web and calling places. The CCW wheels go for like $400 each in 17's, you can get the Enkei Aegis in 17's for almost $500 each, C2's are a little more.
What size and price are you looking for?

hey bajaman, a good place to see wheels in person is an import car show. for example HIN. most cars will be outfitted with all the popular wheels, and you can see which ones you like best!

Well, mainly in the "mesh" style of wheel, like I say, the FIKSE FM-10, the Racing Hart C2, the Enkei Aegis....that sort of wheel. I would like to keep the price around $700 per wheel.....or less if possible. The one place in Wichita would order the Enkeis for $700 plus S&H....
I like the Racing Hart C2s much better, I have to admit.....

Hi Bajaman,

If you like the looks of the C2's in pix, you'll love them in person. They are something to behold. A friend has Fikse mesh on his 993 Turbo and they look good but it is not as polished. I'm sure the Fikse are better built and slightly lighter but even those racers were admiring the C2s.

Pricing-wise for 18", $2400-2700 is prolly reasonable. RH doesn't give much discount.

If you want to see them in action on an FD, d/l my vid @ an autox event and see for yourself. (18MB) http://www.encompass-tech.com/RX7.mpg

The following is solely the opinionated thoughts of Johnny...I may say some harsh things..but the truth hurts sometimes...so if I bagged on your wheels...sorry..Hedgehog car would look good on spares

Of the 3 the Fikse is by FAR FAR the superior wheel...but 18's at $700 per wheel....well it should be around there is not slightly over.okmaybe 800

1. Fikse Fm/10 personally my fav mesh style wheel...the craftsman ship is fantastic...only wheels I've seen that look better (made that is) is Kinesis (k28/mesh)....I know for a fact I can get you into kinesis for about 700 per granted you are happy with the standard finish.. full polish is +100 per wheel. You wont be disappointed either way...send Fikse a email...see what they can do..I know when I was looking at 17's..they quoted me about $2500 for 17x8.5 and 17x9.5 Fm/10's...then see if ARDt2 can beat it...Fikse price ranges can change by as much as 100-150 per wheel(depending on time of year)...dont ask me why...but they do. I guess the get deperate. Nice thing about Fiske...polished is standard finish..but they will be alot of upkeep. By the way I ended up getting Kinesis K58's (I'm a 5 spoke guy) and they look awesome..go to blingbling thread in the suspension folder...They center cap is there new style one..that you wont see on their webpage. I kinda like seeing all the bolts too..Fikse's are hidden...personal preference...but since you are willing to spend $2800...I think Fikse or Kinesis are in you range..17's should be no issue...18's you might need to kick in a little.

2. RH C2's...personally I dont care for them...I'm really not impressed with either of RH's 3piece rims..C5's or C2's.. Something about the aestics of the center cap bugs me...and the design is hardly what I'd call a TRUE mesh design..I dont know..I dont like how the spokes contact the lip...it's not a smooth well though out design...but I'm sure you should be able to get them under you budget.

3. Enkei Aegis...These are SICK ( in a bad way)..seen them up close and personal on a 300M recently...I hate em..ok first the center section...look at it...it's ugly..go to www.enkei.com wheels ex section..I personally dont care for how the spoke go around the bolts either...that is plain tacky.

Ok alot of my opinions are based on looks...FIkse and Kinesis win hands down(looks/strength/performance)... Simmons and HRE also make nice 3 peice mesh wheels...Personally if you are getting 18's...stick with Fikse and Kinesis...you wont regret it.. Let me know if you like Kinesis...
www.kinesismotorsport.com I give you the name and email of my contact..
