hmm... ive been wondering on what color i should paint my calipers.

red...
blue...
silver...

or

POLISHED!!!

IMO, polished calipers are the best for Montego Blue.

that yellow caliper doesnt look bad, but im curious if they look good on daylight.
nice paint job though.

ps: what paint did you use?

I used Dupli-Color primer and paint.

As for polishing....man! That would be a lot of work, the surface is pretty rough to start with, and to get it polished....wow!

The yellow looks good in the light, much better than red did, in my opinion. I think I might take and sand off the paint on the MAZDA letters to bare aluminum and then clearcoat it....

I like the yellow a lot (that's how I did mine) on my VR. I painted my Mazda letters red. You should have used a special high temp paint instead of Dupli-Color. One brand is VHT Brake Caliper, Drum and Rotor spray paint. Available at any hot rod shop. It leaves a glossy, enamel like finish. It's good to 900F and is highly chemical resistant. Not trying to tell you what to do but you might want to strip them now while the paint is still drying - much easier than down the road.........good luck! By the way, if you want painted calipers on that new Ferrari you're getting for Christmas it's only a $600.00 factory option!

I have mine painted yellow and the brake fluid is eating up the paint. Its the high temp laquer too!! So I am thinking of powdercoating them.

If you've got brake fluid leaking on your calipers you have a much larger problem to contend with than paint. All high temp paints are not the same.... You can buy high temp engine paint at the hardware store for your barbeque at $2.99 a can. The VHT is $8.00 a can. I'm not sure what kind of temps powdercoating can take, and it will cost you some serious bucks to have them done.
You also want to make SURE they don't powdercoat the bores for the pistons or you'll have leaks when you put it back together. ANY leak in your brake system is asking for trouble - when you least expect it. Fix it or die

red emblems & calipers...

Hey rx7_lover.......

In my opinion, Montego Blue doesn't lend itself well to the color red......but each application may be unique.
I HAD red calipers, and........they just didn't look quite right. Oh, I had a lot of positive comments on them, but after a while....I don't know......
As for the red Emblems.....once again, right on the paint.....hard to say, but I just don't think so.....if it wasn't such a color shifting paint, if it was a solid color, maybe.....
Hell, try it and see if ya like it. It may be perfect for you, and that is all that really matters!
