New to the Board
Hey rotary enthusiasts, I'm Ryan, new to the board. Although I don't own an FD, I've had my eye on this car for a long time now, been in the market since August, still looking for the perfect car for me. I currently own an MKIV, I don't know how you are all with other cars on the board, but I'm a member of the Supra Forums, and we have a huge variety of tuners there, I hope my membership is certainly welcome here. I have a many plans for the FD as soon as I understand the workings of a rotary. Feel free to send any email my way at SupraSexy@aol.com. Thanks!

Yo,
Welcome aboard! No pun intended. *grin* Wow, that's some serious HP in your Supra, they're famous for that. Just a word of warning about the FD, she's a touchy bitch and she'll suck your wallet drier faster than any chick you've ever known.
I drive an NA RX-7 and if anyone wanted to trade me straight across for a non-modded FD I would say NO. Why? Because I like driving my car. To get an FD running safely, cool/reliably, you need to dump the twin turbos, stick on a big single, go to a stand alone engine management ECU, change out the radiator, blah blah blah. I just don't have that kind of cash, and even when you DO all that crap, the motors still pop with alarming regularity. No thanks.
But I still think it's the sexiest shape ever to leave Japan...

if you get an FD in good condition, with good apex seals, you can usually get away with an aluminum AST (air separator tank, for the non-rotor-heads), a new radiator, and be fairly safe. if you are tuning a bunch, a vented hood and stuff will be important. you don't necessarily need to go single-turbo unless you are dragging it and are looking for huge power (coming from a Supra, this guy might want to though)
It's never fast enough...

Hey welcome to the forum!
After reading the article in SCC about how the FD killed everything on a track, I'd be convinced, too, to buy an FD
