Question I have some questions about ordering parts from Mazda. Any experiences?

I'm ordering an FPD, large print shop manual, and wiring diagram today.

Do I need to have the part #'s ready for them, or will they have them handy?

Can I have the parts delivered to my house or is it better to have them delivered to the dealer and just pick them up?

Do I need to order the wiring diagram seperately if I'm getting the large print manual? This is what I've heard.

How long do I need to wait for this stuff?

Mazda usually looks the stuff up for you on Microfilm. I believe that the wiring diagram now comes with the Shop Manual. Usually 2-3 days delivery from your local dealer. Most don't deliver. Some places like Malloy Mazda or MazdaFormance will deliver. Try to negotiate at least 10% off with your local dealer and say you'll be buying stuff on a regular basis.

Jonski, order that stuff from www.mazdaformance.com. This is the online presence of Jeff Haas Mazda in Texas. They do not mark-up parts like the typical mazda dealer and have quick shipping. Give them a try, I've got a few small things from them and good service and prices so far.

Also, the Shop Manual & Wiring Diagrams are still separate orders. I ordered mine a few months back from a Mazda dealership along with some oil filters.

I bought some stuff from MazdaFormance and I was impressed. Problem is with their $15 shipping cost. Depending on what you buy it may be cheaper from your dealer (although MazdaFormance gives a good discount from list prices). All Mazda dealers mark up the prices. Even if you're getting 35% discount from MazdaMotorsports they are still marked-up significantly.

Buying strictly from the dealership is very expensive. One bolt was $18!

It really depends on what you are buying. Some smaller things like bolts, wires, plugs, etc are really expensive especially when not buying quantities.

However, most prices are ok, especially if you are buying several, or the dealership that I use just likes me.

I bought the small workshop manual a year ago from Mazda. Comes with the wiring diagram. Nice size to fit in the storage bin but if I had it to do again I would get the large one (I think the small one is now unavailable). Not sure if the large comes with it but just call your Mazda parts dealer and they can tell you. I personally have a good relationship with my dealer and receive a good discount. I realize that others have problems and hate their dealer. Just treat them like a professional mechanic shop would and you should be fine.

Well if you learn to play your cards right then parts can get real cheap. i know that mazda marks them up a lot because of how much i get off. i need the rear suspension bushings(yeah, all six of them) and when i called and asked they were like 70.00 each. I talked to the guy that normally helps me and he gives me a discount cause i front my WORKS name and get it cheaper through them. i work at a parts store. then he usually comes down a little mroe cause i buy **** from there all the time. then i told him to do a little bit better for me since i will be buying all six at the same time. i went from 70.00 to 40.00 by just talking. its all about presentation. good luck guys and dont take the first price given to you. you can talk it down.

What particular system or section are you looking for in the Wiring diagram? Or do you just want it for future reference?

Thanks everyone! I just ordered the parts from MazdaFormance.

Toadman:
I just wanted the wiring diagram in case I ever need it. I figure that if I get the shop manual, that I might as well get the wiring diagram, also.
