Exclamation I got my car Dammit.

Yeah congratulate me, i finally got my car. It is a beautiful Red/Tan interior 5spd R1. 86k miles on it. A mazda remanufactured engine and rebuilt turbos about 12k miles ago. Fresh paint. New rims. It has a rough idle at start but is fine after driving it for a few minutes. Im just so happy. Thought i would share.

Congradulations.... Now read all the preventative maintenance articles so you can keep you baby healthy... Recommend you start by replacing/upgrading the AST.

Or a rough idle.......OMG...

Anyway, welcome to the learning curve.

It is (ahem, cough, cough) rather large.

Make sure you ask lots of questions, do lots of searches FIRST, and spend lots of time with your new bitch learning how to wrench on her, and you'll be one very happy camper. Really.

Oh, and having lots of money helps. Congratulations!

Welcome to the forums

The best advise I can give you is to take it easy in the corners untill you can get on a open tarmac and find out how much traction your car really has (which is almost 0% in the rain! and not much more in the dry when going around a corner and the turbos kick in). When you combine a light weight car with the HP/torque comming out of a FD, its just asking for trouble if you try to race it and can't control it.

BTW: What was your last car?

This term comes from home star runner (which can be found at homestarrunner.com). Go and watch the funny flash videos! In any case, I take care of the hippos/waterbucks and wart hogs here at the local Zoo as well as volunteering at other jobs that have a lot of poop scouping involved Shoveling about 2-33 gallon barrels of crap each day I volunteer should qualify me as a poop smith hehe

BTW: It sounds like you should be able to handle your new car SlyderZero00, I know a lot of guys with civics/econo cars which have upgraded to FD's and they have a lot of trouble with the transfer. I personnaly came from a 4000lb 50rwhp desiel benz...

Hey Patrick,
I got my FD about a month ago. I'm still learning new things about it as well. My best friend lives in Snellville, near Stone Mountain, I usually go visit him a few weekends every month. We could hook up sometime with the rest of the Atlanta bunch.

I thought r-1's could have a tan interior. i think you're thinking of the r1 "suede" seats that are all black, but i thought the carpets etc. could be tan...
