Even know I have a repaired salvage title car, and it sometimes doesn't take much for insurance to total a car, I think the consensus is "no". I paid -to much for mine, but atleast it runs and is pretty clean. Though I do have very slight hood fitment/alignment issues to this day (as if it's been a long time). If you gotta ask, it probably isn't the one for you.

No biggy though, keep waiting and run carfax on every one you find.

Anyway, if this is an R1, it should atleast have duel oil coolers in the front. If it doesn't have that, an *** jarring ride on rough road, and the front lip and rear spoiler, this guy shouldn't bother calling it an R1.

Let me know how the test drive works out. I am kind of interested in the car also, but it sounds like everyone here thinks it would be a bad idea to buy it. I have no more than $12K to spend on an FD and want to get one soon. Email to bikeguy0@hotmail.com if it doesn't work out. I am in Colorado so I obviously can't drive up there to see it. Thanks.

volley1,

It seems the prices are higher in Colorado than I've seen in other states. I've never seen an FD for less than 16K.

He must think you are dumb. If you buy the car for anywhere near what he is asking, he is right.

No one can tell you EXACTLY what this car is worth without seeing it. Take along someone who knows these cars. Hire someone if you have to.

johnchabin: You are right, I haven't been looking that long, but I can't find any around here less that 16K. I have been looking for one I can test drive since I have never even ridden in one. Only found one at a dealer, and the won't let anyone test drive it unless they have the financing preapproved. By the way, they want 27K for it. Crescent Auto Sales.

rick,

You will need more than 12" of vacuum line. If you want to check boost, you don't need a "T". Just pop the plastic cap off the connection at the base of the UIM and plug the hose in there. The other end goes to your boost gauge.

Won't someone in NJ help this young lad out?

I've sold cars for almost 5 years and let me tell you...

salvage = 1/2 of wholesale at most!

go to kbb.com and see what the wholesale price is and pay no more than half of that. I don't care what car it is.

BTW, if it's salvaged then it must have been repainted. In that case, I'd rather buy one in poor condition with a blown motor for like 5 grand and fix it up myself (new motor, new paintjob...). That way you'll end up with a very nice FD which isn't salvage.

It's unlikely anybody will buy a salvage titled car from you (but possible). If you buy it, you should come to the reality that the car ends with you. Maybe not, but come to grips with it.

As for $10,500. No way in hell. I just refused a salvaged titled car at $7500 and it works.

Take you time buying a FD. They are not like a Honda. Honda; and Rx-7 don't go in the same sentence. I give you this If you want a car to be quick with low cost (compared to a FD) get the honda, but If you want something nice and a classic get the 7. Before I got mine I look for 6 month before I found it (then 3 weeks later it got stolen). Now I'm looking for another one. If you have to travel oh well, that is one of the best thing to do, take aroad trip in your new 7. Oh by the way if you look into getting the Integra don't get a H22 they are a pain in the *** to work with, that's whyi got rid of mine. Yes they have ***** but the lubrication system sucks after you hit 120k on the odometer wait for it and kiss you bearings good bye.
