Talking I found an FD!!!!

Hi All,

I've been looking for another FD for a bit now. I had thought that I would be looking quite a while but as it turns out I found a new one only about two weeks into the search!!!

The gent who owned it had it under a cover in his garage for about four months. Arthritis in his cluch foot was forcing him to sell it, also he used to be a professional mechanic. Hmm ... sounds too convenient.

A test drive later I noticed a perfect boost pattern. Also, for an R1 it had no trouble with driveways and it had a comfortable ride. Turns out it has a set of brand new Megan Racing coil overs. The car drove perfectly with the exception of a slow transition in first.

The interior is near flawless ... no rip in the driver's seat!!! The paint is great for being 17 years old. There are some chips in the hood. I'm guessing these are the typical 93 paint formula issue. The rear spoiler is lightly cracked from closing the hatch but the deal includes another flawless spoiler ... just needs VR paint.

So the only bad thing? An oil leak in the turbo area. Not bad for a 17 year old car.

OK, OK, so here are some pics.

Anyone care to confirm the cat back? I think that it's a Greddy SP2. I'd like to do a trade for an RB dual tip ... PM me. More pics of the exhaust here.

Turns out the slow first gear turbo transition was only a loose hose on the boost tank. It's an original motor, just under 64k miles ... so it's only a matter of time until the seals go ... but for now it's in great shape!!! This weekend it's up on ramps for a once over and to chase the oil leak down.

Time to change my sig!

Nice find. Well maintained stock-ish FDs are getting harder to come by. And it does appear to be a Greddy catback.

looks nice! While you are under there checking everything out, turn in your membership to the 4x4 high riders club and lower your car an inch or so

Looks very clean, congrats for the good buy. I think the previous owner did what I'm planning to do to my car which is painting the sideskirt area (attachment lip) black. Originally it is red and doesn't look good from some angles.

LOL ... The front lip is 6" off of the ground. It definitely looks a bit odd. It's a bit further down the priority list but I'll work on this. I think that I could loose and inch and still clear driveways.

Ryan95, I paid a bit under 15K.

Definitely! The Greddy exhaust sounds great but I'm looking for an RB dual tip for this very reason. No single turbos, the stocks will stay sequential, etc. My only plans now are reliability mods. AST, radiator, DP, etc. I have zero plans to do anything that can be seen as non stock or can not be easily reversed.

Thanks Gordon. I feel lucky.

What! It's not stock? Where's the red paint? Gota fix that! :-p

AdamC, WOW ... I just noticed your mods. You've come a long way from using needle valves to push your boost up. I'm looking for an air box that looks stock, passes CA emissions, performs great and is inexpensive ... err cheap. Any ideas?

Thanks all! I'm looking forward to contributing a bit to this forum.

Alpsta is talking about the body seam on the underside of the car, it runs the length of the 'main' section of the body... Factory it is Painted body color, and hangs down below the rest, and looks bad IMO, unless painted black, or covered up with side skirts...

If you look at where the red paint stops on the bottom of the car there is a little back lip.... That's what he is referring too

Thanks Prôdigy2nd ... I'm actually happy with the look. I don't see a reason to change it.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

I'l start another thread ... I think that I've found the oil leak.

James
