Exclamation I finally got it to the shop....

ok, finally got it towed over to the shop yesterday and it was sputting out puffs of black smoke when I jump started it, is this ok or really really bad? I think I read somewhere that white smoke is really bad. Anyways, the guy at the shop and about 4 other guys said it was just my starter cause the car doesn't start btw. Anyways, so it's gonna cost me a little over $200 and then they will replace the plugs and check the engine make sure everythings ok. Could someone please tell me about the smoke? I would really appreciate it, thanks in advance.

black smoke usually means you're running way too rich... Perhaps it was flooded?

Black smoke is a much better sight than white smoke. Often times, when there is black smoke billowing from the exhaust, and the car idles rough, the MAP sensor vacuum hose is disconnected.

The symptoms you have been describing sound just like a disconnected vaccuum line from the MAP sensor. I'm going to laugh at you if that is the problem!

If your car was flooded, or just not running for a while, a little smoke would be expected at start up. If it keeps smoking then you have a problem.

Dude you KEEP ASKING THE SAME QUESTION.

If the car is running poorly AFTER you start it up it IS NOT THE STARTER!

I won't go into anymore detail, look over the last few threads you posted this same question. Many people posted helpful replies, look into their suggestions.

Talking SWEET! I got my car back!

SWEEEEEET!!!!! I finally got it towed down to the shop and the guy looked at it and said the only thing wrong with it was my starter, wierd enough but I said ok and he put in a new starter and new plugs and it runs great again! YAY! Thanks to everyone who tried to help me in the past, but now it's fixed. Now I can go to events and such.....finally! Because now I have a fully running 7 with a brand new BROKEN in engine along with it. I think it's pretty cool. So thanks again guys!
Sorry Turbojeff, but it WAS the starter. I think it's my fault cause I didn't make it clear to you guys, sorry. But, look it's all ok guys, because it's fixed now. Thanks!

Something DOES NOT add up with everthing you were saying. A bad starter will NOT cause the problems you were talking about. I think people suggsted at least a dozen times to change your spark plugs... geez. Why did you even bother asking us for advice?

Nowadays in the cold *** weather when I start up my car in the morning after being parked outside my car will put out some white smoke for about 10-15 seconds then it stops.

Is that normal?

Dan,
Your fine and thats normal its just condensation build up in the exhaust. Worry when: lots of white smoke like a steam engine, hard to start, coolant light comes on consantly and you fill constantly, engine gets unusually hot under boost. If you have these symptoms and shes your daily driver just ride her tell she dies but if you don't need the coolaholic bitch send her to rehab but thats an expensive habit to kick
