I didn't get 7 :(

I ended up not getting a 7. My dad complained to me about engine being a hassle to work on and how he talked to some of his mechanic friends and they all said it was a bad idea to get one (I am paying for car but I still couldn't get it)
So I ended up with a Black 95 Mustang Cobra with the 5.0 (last year with the 5.0) I'm happy with it but i still want a 7 eventually. Oh well mod-ville here i come

Hey, a 302 Mustang is nothing to scoff at either, though. 1st thing, swap the rear lights with the newer gen ones... those horizontal ones look way old school. You can beat on that motor for days and it won't even hiccup... maybe a bent pushrod if you're lucky.

I had a '94 GT, leave the lights. Not many sn95s have those. The 5.0 cobra has always been on my list of what to mod. You will be much happier with this as your first mod car. What you learn from the cobra will help you immensly when you do get an FD or other complicated car. I mean ****, throwing a cam in that thing can be done by a monkey! The stock headers on those 5.0s suck! so get new tubies and a cat back and you won't ever want to get off the gas with that sweet sweet music playing Also...just from the nature of the car..get sport spring, they have alwyas looked like they are riding on an offroad suspension, but when dropped an inch of two they look much more serious.

If you want an RX-7 later dont spend any modding this car, just save it for an RX-7.

At the moment the car is stock except for Flowmaster exhaust. I'll probably get new headers, underdrive pullys, 3.73 gears, short shifter, advance the fuel timing to 13 or 14.

I agree with the sport springs. First thing i noticed about the car was the wheel gap

on a side note: i test drove a 03 cobra the other day and that thing really hauled. I think i want supercharger for mine now haha

It's got to be disappointing not getting the FD but I agree that your Dad gave you good advice.

Look's to me that you landed on your feet with a very good car so you are fortunate. You certainly have nothing to be ashamed of!

Have fun and drive safe.

nearly every mustang friend i have says that 3.73's are a waste. they recommend 4.10's or at least 3.90's

The thing is the car is freeway driven and wouldn't the 4.10's put the rev's alot higher on the freeway?

Edit: don't forget this is a 95 cobra with th 5.0 it's not as rev happy as the 4.6. Mine redlines at about 5,800 or so not the 6,500 like the 4.6

don't spend a dime on it and save for a real car - and FD or FC

just kidding, well no, but... enjoy the car good luck with it, but don't blow a ton of cash on modding the car. it just ain't worth it.

LMAO!!! Classic TTT. I was thinking the same thing. "Oh ****, must really suck to not get an FD as your first real car, but get stuck with a God damn Mustang Cobra"

My first car was a ****** 1986 Ford LTD Brougham...bought with my own cash

Hey way to be a bunch of ********. Heres a kid who is buying his own car, probably just dropped ~$15k for it, and you're treating him like you would any other kid whose daddy bought him the car. He probably works his *** off to afford it.

I'm defending him cus I get a lot of crap for having been 18 when I bought my FD, every dime of which has been paid for by yours truly. I'm 19 now, and I still get crap for having a kick *** car while I'm so young. Just cus many of you are older, and didn't work your *** off when you were younger to afford the things you wanted, don't criticize those who do. Have a little respect.

Congrats toppdogg, it's not an FD but Cobras are more than respectably fast, and can get crazy fast for a little bit of money. Enjoy it, maybe an FD is somewhere in your future.
