I Am A - #$@% - Idiot

Guess who just folded his perfect aluminum hood over his FD3. YUP me. Just got my car running 1 week ago after 2 frigin years. Single Turbo, custom intercooler and radiator ECT, ECT, ETC. I don't even want to think about how many hours I have in this project. WTF did I do with my brain.

I had my car in the air doing a basic visual inspection, finished, put it on the ground and low and behold I get a phone call. Long call from a good friend. GO back to my car fire it up and head to another friends house to watch Monster garage. At about 40 mph my hood folds over my roof. I FORGOT TO LOCK MY LOCKING HOOD PINS. You know the kind, the ones that make it difficult for anybody to get under the hood without a key. Well it helps to use a key to LOCK IT DOWN. Oh and by the way, I don't have a center support cross member anymore because I cut it out to make room for a fresh air intake I will be making. " SO NO SECONDARY SAFETY CATCH." Just wake me up. This dream sucks.

Well I had to vent some steam. FCK I even got a nose bleed. That never happened to me before ever when I have been really pissed off.

Anybody have a hood for sale?

Dayam...

My condolences...that's happened quite a few times with friends of mine who have purchased aftermarket hood pins.

One even had his smash his window in during a drag run....almost suicided himself.

I'd have to wear a ribbon around my finger everyday if I got hood pins.

G'luck with the hood...maybe you can get a nice CF with vents for a good price.

Just look at it as a reason to upgrade.

heh, been there and done that too
A good reason to hinge the hood from the front.
Maybe have to wire up a pressure switch or and idiot light somehow to the hood pins. There was a hood for sale here somewhere in the last day or so though, might still be able to grab it.

I feel better now. I had a couple of beers. I set massages to everyone in the 3rd. parts section who listed hoods for sale. Hopefully I will get a return message.

If anyone knows of a Straight Stock hood for sale e-mail me at rehanson61@yahoo.com. I am going to call my insurance agent tomorrow and see if it will be worthwhile for me to place a claim to help to cover my costs. Thanks for everyone's support. I have to go to bed now. I must be a light weight

i had similar problems once. but my pins were stolen while car was parked. i knew they were gone though b/c when i came out my hood was up.
i had to use my shoelaces to hold hood down to get home. now i use small master locks for "pins" as the only thing holding my hood shut is the pins. no more stock lock.

Well, there was the day I took off on my motorcycle like a bat out of hell - with the padlock still on the front disk -
but that's another story!

I now have a string that attaches to the padlock and wraps aroung the front brake lever. (I hate doing face
plants on asphalt)

I actually got thrown off so hard I hit the ground rolling. The only thing besides the bike that was bruised was my ego. My buddies were all watching me at the time, and they laughed so hard I thought they were going to **** their pants. Me too, it was hysterical!

Unitil I started buying replacement parts..
