if you are worried about **** getting in your engine, why not just buy a true BOV?

they do make fake BOV's ya know...

then it probally only works if you have the 3 foot pipe (or however long it needs to be) running to the outside of the car.

how much louder does it make it by putting it closer to the Y-pipe?
is it safe?

I wasnt thinking of getting it closer to the Y-Pipe, I was just fiddling with trying to change the pitch of the sound that the air makes when the BOV opens. I just cant see how putting hangers around it would make a difference. I even tried it, however with two instead of 4, and it didnt seem to make any noticeable difference. An extra hose? hmm. that may do it. Almost seems like too much work for not a whole lot, but hey, I got time, and simple arts craftsmanship, and puttin those two together might make something completely worthless that works.

use a 20 oz bottle cap and zip tie it or hose clamp it.

double-sided tape rolled into a ball (against itself) also works.

u actually drilled holes in the end of ur BOV outlet, and still no sound difference? wow. I would have guessed that holes would have done it. And yea, A bottle cap is what I'm using. Or u can get a rubber stopper from home depot for pretty cheap, and just plug it.

A 16oz arrowhead drinking water plastic bottlecap slips over the airbox nice and tight. No zip-tie needed. A cork will rot and pieces will get sucked in eventually.

ok, Im just trying to have a little fun without having to pay. I'm also trying to deny that my motor is having problems, and all I've ever done so far is preventative maintenance, so a little free mod like venting and changing the sound somehow just makes it interesting. I am super low on cash, and need to start saving for a rebuild, cuz I know the day is comming soon. So, in the meantime, who's got a real idea on how to change the sound?

attention FD owners: your car (rx7) has a rotary engine and two turbos. this thread really sums up the 3rd gen section for me. wait... did most of you guys buy this car because it looks cool?

the only way you're going to make your bov sound "different" is get a new one. hell, why dont you stick a referee whistle onto the outlet of the BOV (attn. thats where the air comes out) so your car will whistle like a ref every time you let off the boost
(PS. thats when the BOV makes its little noise is when you let off the boost...)

nah, I disagree. I bet theres some way to change it other than putting some kind of dumb *** whistle on the end of it. Air splitters or something, similar to the HKS? Of course, getting a new one would be nice, but spending that kind of cash isn't nearly as good as spending it on something for reliability at this point.

I think this is what JhnRx7 means...

This will make it understand easyer, I hope !

and u just take the coat hangers and zig zag 'em up??? why 3 feet of this hose? I would assume this is for the sound, but that seems a bit much...
