Question Hyperground SYstem

I am bringing forth the question concerning the recent article in the April 03 issue of Trubo and High-tech performance magazine, about the hyperground system tested on a modded RX-7 by xs-engineering.

I called them and they stand by their dyno data that is printed in the article.

I put the question out there at the rx-7 list, but got only one halfway descent responce. I hope this forum is better.

Does any one have any experience with this?? It seems 10-15 safe hp is nothing to balk at, especially at the modest cost of this item. I have not bought it yet, I'd julst like to get people's opinion.

can check out at : www.sunautomobile.com

Thanks

Galo

make your own out of welding cable .Connect battery neg to motor, motor to subframe, uim to firewall, exhast to body. also use welding cable to replace the double wire from the alternator to the fuse block .Your lights will be brighter , radio louder, and this can relieve the 3000 rpm hesitation .

Quite a few people (including myself) have made their own grounding cables. It's not rocket science.

However, in retrospec, I would have just bought some and save the hassle of making them.

Making it urself cant be as good as the hypergrounds right? Their's are pure copper! I'm not too sure tho, but I am considering buying this and ditching the DIY grounds.

I doubt it's "as good", however as most of the people in the thread that I posted above... I don't think it's 10-15hp better (unless your current grounds are bad).

two gauge grounding cable and all this stuff is all well and good

but ask yourself this....when is the last time you used a wire brush on your battery terminals and all your ground contact points? that can make a bigger difference than you might think

Can't be as good? Unlikely if you don't do a crap job. If you get some quality connectors and crimp them with a good crimping tool, you'll do just fine. And if you're concerned about the quality (purity) of the wire, you could use something like 14 or 16 ga speaker wire. Either way, good crimps using clean connectors + good connections to bare metal under pressure = as good as it gets electrically.

Use "star" washers with the nuts to "bite" into the metal while you're at it. Melt solder into the crimped terminals as well - just heat them gently on your shop vise with a propane torch and touch the solder - it will wick into the joint. And....what the hell - finish them off with some heat shrink tube for a pro look.

I think I spent about $20 total for mine.

My mechanic does what RonKmiller states above with welding cable , he makes his terminals from tubing and ss washers, to fit the stud or bolt being used. Heavy duty , looks good works good.
