The stock clutch is usually good up to a little over 300rwhp. The stock tranny has been used in a lot of high horsepower vehicles. It normally fails from the type of use rather than the amount of power the car is putting out.

well i'm asking this because my 7 had a new trany put in w/ an ACT street clutch. I've upgraded to single and had new streetport engine put in with all fuel stuff needed. I'm just wondering if i make close to 500hp will i break my trany.

just dont dragg the car, if you race it, race from a roll and you will be fine, you will if i'm not mistaken, at that amt of HP you will screw your differential up before the transmission given both of them are in equal condition.

Lots of HP (well, torque really) does increase the stress and reduce the life of the tranny. Mine started to make noise (bearing, I think), so I swapped it for another used stock tranny. I never do drag race launches and my car had ~360-400RWHP (depending on the boost) when the tranny started to get noisy. It never failed, it would just make worn-out-bearing noises.

The stock clutch can hold a bit more power than stock, but it starts to slip for high-HP cars. I think you will need a different clutch than the one you have now for 500RWHP. But depending on your upgrade plans, it might be a while before you are making that much power.

Hey, have you seen a montego blue FD with black wheels driving around your city? That's me. I am glad to hear of another FD in town.
