Thumbs up How's This For A FMIC?

Hey guys,

As you can see I'm anything but a post ***** but I was out looking for a FMIC the other day and came across this little beauty from one of the local shops here in Sydney. Having seen countless pictures of other setups, HKS, Trust/Greddy, Blitz, Apexi, etc I thought this one was pretty unique as you guys can see by the way the piping runs through the centre of the car straight into the elbow and crossover pipe, instead of out and around the sides like the other setups mention.

The kit measures up at 600x300x80 and by far has the shortest piping I've seen on ANY front mount, which the seller claims will see virtually no turbo lag or drop in pressure. Other observations include retaining the original airbox and battery as well as being a very nice fit to the front bar. The seller reckons its by far the best setup on the market and is retailing for $2100 (Australian Dollars) supplied and fitted which is around $1550 U.S Dollars. So what do you guy's think?

Looks good. But the piping is not really that short. The piping for my apexi gt intercooler looks shorter. And were does the rad go?????

I'm guessing the radiator is still in the stock position, it is hard to tell in those pics.

Well I think it looks cool. I also question the radiator blockage though.

Bad design in a lot of respects. Looks to be very well crafted and pretty but they weren't thinking function when they built it.

Aside from the whole blocking the radiator issue:

-- I find it hard to believe that thing fits behind the stock bumper without a little "creative fitting".

-- The piping may be a hair shorter, and may allow the stock batt, y-pipe, and intake elbow, but those hard 180-deg bends in and out of the IC don't look good for pressure drop.

The fabrication looks amazing though!

I agree with Kevin -crappy design. What is gained from cutting the front chassis cross member off that can't be had by working around it with a different design?

Also the intercooler itself doesn't look that thick. Looks like the size of Greddy 2row.

That is a lot of intercooler and a lot of piping for the stock twins. Lag city! Nice crafsmanship though. Ideally you would want piping as short and straight as possible for more instant throttle response with smaller turbos. I also can't imagine how the stock rad would get enough air flow now at the angle it's originally mounted. You better install a aftermarket temp gauge for your engine if you don't already have one.

I dont liek the look of the 180deg bends to go in and out of the IC. The rest of it looks spot on though.

I read somewhere that for every tight 180deg bend you lose 5% flow (cant remember the exact figure)

Another thing I just noticed is it looks like it necks down from the stock tubes at 2.75" to something like 2 1/2 " for all the IC pipes. Just after the connectors you can see a weld point with a drop in pipe diameter. This thing could use a complete redesign.

Well considering you've never owned a running 13b in your life your opinion really means a lot. Sheesh kids on these forums.
