How would an Fd run without any air intake installed

I have just finished my greddy front mount install and am currently waiting on my air intake that I ordered 3 weeks ago. I want to start it up to make sure all the parts that had to be relocated ie. radiator, power steering, a/c condensor etc. it working properly and not leaking before I put everthing back together.

With this all said, would it harm the car to run it for a minute or two? or would it run to rich or lean, idle funny etc. I am sure it cannot be great for the car with six of the pipes that go to the stock air box not attached, but I thought might ask

Any help will sure be appriciated

I disagree. I really really wouldn't do this. Get something sucked in there and say bye bye turbo.

there will be no problem running the engine while the car is standing still, but i would not reccomend driving the car with no filters.

I think that as long as the car is parked on fairly clean cement and not on gravel it should be fine. Then there woulldn't be any dust or debry that could be kicked up. Just my thoughts.

Some tuners run FD with a small mesh or screen over the inlet to prevent big stuff from gettin sucked in but i wouldn't reccomend it for a street car. Just sitting the car looks more aggresive with an open inlet but be very very carful.

"For sure"? I know for sure ... it'll be more than fine to start up without an intake on. You will have absolutely no problem with it just sitting there running with no filtration. Like has been said you'd want to reconsider driving it far without any filtration, but it doesn't sound like you plan on doing any driving anyways from your original post.

not a good idea. the sock would get sucked into the turbos and **** em up.

unless you were joking, but i did not see any smileys or hints of humor for me to make the assumption that you were joking.

Ok guys, I started the car and it ran fine for a minute or two and then it started running very very rich ( all the way in the green on the A/F meter) and started to idle bad so turned it off quick. My question is this.... This was not a problem before and I did nothing but put the front mount IC in. The only thing I can think of is the automatic warm up that I blocked off with the greddy elbow. Is there more to this than just blocking off the cap

Please help

Thanks

Pantyhose is a good short term solution, like if you destroyed your air intake and you need to move the car into the garage. Ming did this for a while actually when he sold his intake, actually drove around i think. But then he crashed his car....coincidence?

Problem solved by Marcus @ www.turbostreetfighter.com. He did a little trouble shooting with me over the phone and ends up the new A/F meter that I install was grounding out a causing it run rich (we think).

Thanks again Marcus and you guys check out his web site
