How to tell if new Coolant Seals are needed?
Okay, I searched the boards and didn't exactly find what I was looking for.
I was wondering what kinds of signs I would need to see in order to determine whether or not new Coolant Seals are needed.
Any help would be great, thanks.

Okay, none of that on mine... but I'm curious... how do you know whether or not it's too late to replace the seals (when only the entire engine must be replaced)?

you can drive the car with bad coolant seals but it will start to randomnly overheat and you won't be able to locate a visual problem. you could conceivably just drive it until it won't start or run anymore but you risk more damage to your housing etc....doesn't really matter if you will be getting a reman though.

Okay, well I'm thinking of buying this FD with 120K miles on chasis and 30K on the reman engine. The guy tells me the coolant seals will need to be replaced soon, and he says it could cost up to $1500. Is this true? Or does it cost more to rebuild an engine? He says if I knew how to do it myself, it would be much cheaper. Is there truth to this?
Thanks.
Thanks.
