how to tell if my engine has been rebuilt?

I already searched. I bought this car some time ago as a repo item so i know nothing about its past. I was wondering how to tell if a company has rebuilt your engine. The car has 121,xxx miles on it so i would imagine it would but im not sure. Also how can i tell if it's been street ported? Is the only way to tell is if it has a lumpy idle.

you can snake a Colonoscope/Sigmoidoscopy/fiberoptic camara in to your LIM and check to see if your intake runners are ported or thru your downpipe, past your wastegate and check to see if your exhuast part is ported. other then that, pull your engine apart and take a look

Note: it will cost between 2-6k for a Colonoscope/Sigmoidoscopy/fiberoptic camara... try to find someone with one which trust you with it. also, i should not have to say things but... dont even try to turn your engine on with it in your engine.

Take it out, rebuild and port it, then you know when it was rebuilt last and how it was ported. Even when you do buy a car from somebody else, unless they left it stock, you really have no idea FOR SURE about everything that has been done to the car. Who knows how many little ghetto mods have been done that owners forget about.

the one i used looked like this http://www.labx.com/web/rankin1/imag...?pic=14868.JPG

it maximum diameter is 13.3mm, easily able to make it thru the intake runners and in to the ports to see if indeed you ahve a ported engine

Uhh, I really wouldn't know what to tell him then. Unless you're into side-job colonscopies.

Allot of times you can tell by pulling the oil pan off and looking at the seems between intermediate housing and rotor housings, Usually if its not a factory replacement and it is rebuilt they will use silicone to seal it back up better...

Just run a compression test. That should be enough to at least know the general health, compression wise.

well if you are going thru the trouble of pulling off the oil pan, you might as well rebuild the entire engine as you problaly pulled it from the car to take hte oil pan off. at least tahst what i would do
