6'4" here (220 lbs) and I have no problems getting in or out. I have a sunroof, but I suspect that with a helmet I would have "issues" with rubbing. Also I just picked up a 2002 FD steering wheel from Ramy that should make for a little extra knee room.

As per the removable hub steering wheel idea...it works two fold. 1: it acts as a spacer while you're driving, preventing your knees from steering the car. 2: It also helps you get in and out of the car without strange, because without the steering wheel in place, it's just like climbing into the passangers seat.

As for modifying the seat rails, with the seats tilted back a little, they pretty much touch the bins as is. I'd see you losing a lot of tilt room if you did that. As well, I'm not so sure how safe it'd be in an accident. You could end up with your seat pushing you forward in a bad crash.

I am 6'1" with the stock steering wheel, but since my FD is an R1 there is plenty of headroom. I was suprised when I first drove an FD to see that the wheel doesn't tilt, seeing as how my FC has a tilt wheel. Like many others, I just have to scoot the seat back. Oh, and I will be driving for 12 hours on Saturday, and I am sure I will be very happy to get out of the car at the end of that trip...

thanks very much to eveyone who replied. a dealer near me has one so i went and had another sit last night. it is tight but i think with smaller wheel, titling the seat back etc it does give just those extra couple of inches which almost made it comfortable! this was the car, pretty mint, might get it.

Whats the difference between a FD with a sunroof, and FD without a sunroof? If anything, I would have thought the FD with a sunroof would allow more room due to

No, the sunroof models have a lower roof, to make room for the sunroof doohickeys.
