how to take off the brake caliper

how do u take off the brake calipers? i plan to paint them. is it hard to take them off?

its easy, all u gotta do is take out the 2 bolts that hold the caliper onto the caliper mount. the hardest part will probably dissconeting the brake line.

If you disconect the brake line be sure to use a flare wrench.

Make sure to properly bleed your brakes upon reinstall. Don't paint over the seals or other parts.

EDIT: Then again, if you're asking such a basic question, perhaps you shouldn't be messing with such an important area of your car as the brakes. No offense.

i agree, but couldnt i paint the calipers without taking them off? couldnt i just block off all the parts that i dont want to get painted and paint away?

oh and make sure the parking brake is off when you try to remove the rear caliper

Download the brake section of the Mazda Shop manual, it lays it out in detail. I used it this weekend to change my rear brake pads.
