How to remove engine and tranny without draining tranny fluid

I was wondering if there is a way to remove the engine and tranny together without the draining the tranny fluid. The last two times I removed my engine and tranny together, my tranny fluid spilled everywhere from where I removed the driveshaft. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The factory has a plastic cap that goes into the back of the tranny output shaft opening.

Just drain it with the 24 mm nut on the bottom of the trans

You could unbolt the driveshaft from the rear end, then wire it to the tranny so it won't fall out when you remove the engine/tranny.

If you are good with rags and tape you should be able to pull it out without a drop on the ground.

I highly recommend that. The rag will get soaked but you will not loose fluid.

although I have an Fc,I attached a plastic bread bag to the tail stock and wrapped it Crazily with Duct tape.
It did work, although not the Cleanest.
Like adam said though, either wire the Driveshaft to the Trans,OR Find someone with a Junker driveshaft and cut the Input shaft off it,stick in it and Voila.Trans Plug!
I honestly DO think that they Sell them like that too..somewhere,I would call a Trans shop(like MR Transmission or whatever is in the US) and see if they do sell a Part that plugs the tail stock up.
Good Luck.

I cover the output shaft opening with a clear plastic and tight it with rubber band or string.

If you don't want to drain and refill to avoid loosing gear oil and making a mess, simply pull the motor without the transmission.

IMO, anyone going after that drain plug with an impact gun probably should hire you to do it for them.

You would be surprised what I find when I buy some of these "modified" fds. Nothing shocks me any more A lot of it can likely be traced to bad info given on this forum.

^What builders/shop owners see probably would make an informative (and entertaining thread for sure. You, Ihor, Chris Sanders and some of the others should consider it.
