RX7 Rotary Rocket

I have a problem, my exhaust Apexi' N1 stands close to my C-West bumper and it gets so hot that my bumper's paint is burning. There is no way to move my exhaust so I need to know what I can put on my bumper to protect it against that heat ?

Any ideas ?

they have exaust sheilds for stock bumper im sure fabricating one for the cwest bumper wouldnt be too hard using some aluminum.

ive seen em sold aluminum and carbon fiber but im pretty sure if ur looking for function c/f is a bad idea

Dump the over priced POS N1 and get something else. I have the racing beat and don't have that problem anymore.

the racing beat and peter farrell exhausts actually have longer piping as well , so the outlet pipe actually sits farther out than the N1s do and when flames shoot its all good doggie

I bought some adhesive thermal sheet for summit racing and stuck it on, also had to trim back some of the black valance plastic as it had melted onto my exhaust. It not flames so much as heat that is the problem, the big single tail pipes get too close to the bumper.

There IS an Rx in Alaska! Could just cool the exhaust with a little glacier ice...

Nobody has tried fitting cooling fins up-pipe, I guess.


Mine was scorching paint for a while, but it turned out to be an indication the engine was letting the cat converter burn half the gas. With the new engine, I have less hot tail.

I have the rotaryextreme CF bumper guard and it works well...it bears the brunt of the carbon buildup and you can scrub/degrease that thing to your heart's content with no worry of damage, unlike a painted surface. Plus, for those weeks when you don't have time to clean off the back of the car, it doesnt look nearly as neglected with that piece there as it would if the paint were all blackened.
