How much would you pay?

I have a friend who let me have his rew motor to tear down to see if there were any serviceable parts to use in my current rebuild. The motor had been in a fire and there was no compression in the rear rotor. Once apart, the housings which are what I really need, had a little bit of flaking, but were 10000 times better than mine. The plates aren't scored badly either. The motor seems to be in pretty decent shape overall, with possibly a coolant seal being the reason compression was lost.

The question is, what is a fair price to pay for the motor. I don't want to screw him. As it was when I took delivery of her, the motor was probably worth 3-500 tops, but now that she is apart and the condition is laid to bare, what should I give for it?

Thanks in advance,
James
