How much does an FD like this go for?

I tried the seach function but didnt' come up with many answers, just a few.

I want to know how much a 3rd gen RX-7 sells for with either a blown engine or no engine.
Assume the car is in very nice condition, and there is no really special perfomance parts on it.
I know location makes a difference, so put down what state/province that price is for as well.

Sounds about right. Maybe even a bit high. An engine and the assorted new parts will run you around $5k, install included. So, hope that helps with benchmarking things.

Ah, thanks for beating me to the punch, BP'd. Assuming i can get an FD body for, i dunno about $7-8k, but a new shortblock, for however much i can find it cheapest (completley stock) how are used longblock things like alt's and pulleys and all that jive?

I'm also assuming that if someone sells an engineless FD, it's because they blew the motor and didnt feel like rebuilding it, so the cooling and brake and all those systems should still be ok, right? Just need to drop a "new" 13B-REW in (a biiiiiiiiig step up from an S4 N/A 13B).

Boy am I gonna hate coming back to the states. I bought a blown black on black 92 R1 here in Japan for $1700. Then I overhauled the motor for about 2K, and for under 4K im driving an R1 in Japan. I guess I better get as many parts before I leave eh?

Yeah my friend from NZ who lives here now is amazed on how much sports cars cost. Generally around 25%-50% higher here for the exact same car!

Could do a bit of sneaky stuff
- buy 100% f-d up salvaged FD for $1000
- buy cheap FD3S for 1/2 price in NZ or Japan
- pay a few thousand to import car
- have the VIN changed over ( free )
- get it safety inspected ($50) and register it

It will be hell trying to find all the accesories to go on the motor, so get one with a blown motor instead of no motor at all.

Usually blown FD's go for between $6.5 and $9k, a very good condition low mileage FD can run that high. You can get a reman installed for about $4k so you have a really nice FD for $13k with a new motor, not bad at all.

Arrow Nice to see somone lookin for a challenge

Keep in the back of your mind when looking for a blown FD that it makes it difficult to check other key expensive items, such as the turbos, turbo controls, tranny, ignition system, sensors, and fuel system.

The engine core is pretty cheap to get (at least in comparison to the rest of the car) but its the little things that will nickle-and-dime you to death.

I sold a montego blue FD with 70k on it,
and a blown motor for $5k
it also had a salvage title for engine fire, and had been in an accident also.
looked great on the outside, inside was good condition but needed cleaning.
mechanicaly was unsound.

I don't want an FD3S with a blown engine, or no engine, just so I can reinstall a 13B.

If that were the case I'd probably just buy a running FD.

Besides, I don't have the money until August-September to be buying a car and modifying it.

Just finding out prices so I can settle on what car to buy and what HEAVY modifications to do to it. Or better worded, what car and modifications I can AFFORD to do!

So basically I'm looking at $5,000 - $8,000 for a good condition FD (other than engine)? I might be able to deal with that...

Well, I don't really care if the FD has 5 kajillion miles on it if the engine is blown, assuming a higher mileage blown FD will fetch me a lower price. I'm not afraid of a little bodywork and a little paint, because I have connections for that. I just want to get a nice FD for less than the "typical" $12-14k asking price, if I could stay just under 10, I'd be happy. Even having a job making $18 an hour, and working a second at $13 an hour I'm still gonna have to bust my *** to afford this car (and assinine massachusetts insurance, gas, emissions, and masshole drivers... i hate mass ). But I want it really, really, REALLY badly. I can wait for ridiculous modifications (ex. Secret weapon, and stuff associated with it ) till summer of '04, considering I'm gonna be keeping an FC and an (hopefully) FD.
Otherwise, if i can't afford the FD, then i'm just going to have to make a stupid-fast FC that will lick mostly stock FD's (and ricers) up. But I'm sure that you'd all rather see me have an FD to do that with. So help me out here. Oh yeah, I totally forgot what my point of this post was about halfway through it, but I've been typing for too damn long now to start changing ****.
