How much does it cost?
How much does it cost for a nice turbo 3rd Gen RX-7 that would compete with a supercharged type r integra? Im trying to decide which one I want. I dont want to do ALOT of work on the car I just want to drive it, and drive it fast
If you try and save $$ on the purchase price you'll end up spending more. A $20K FD will absolutely SMOKE a Type R, modded or not.
Do a bunch of research on this site, look for the right car, hand your Type R buddy his ***
. What does he run with the car anyway? A FD with about $4K bolt-ons with hit the 12s pretty easily, good driver, smart spender will do it with less $$.

a type-r running more than 8 psi boost is very, very close to blowing itself open. your buddy should consider a full buildup... better yet, he should have thought twice before buying an itr for forced induction. any of the other b-series motors would have been a better option. and, based on your original comments, i would suggest you not get an fd... maybe you should start by maintaining a piston engine and move on to rotaries when you know a bit more. hell, go buy an old school (86-87 944) porsche for $6k and you'll never have to worry about reliability
Hell..you want an example of how different the cars are..
Take a look at the Sport Compact Car USCC competition...that Type-R had over 45,000 dollars invested in it, and it came in 7th overall. A MR2, WRX, Eclipse beat it in most of the competitions.
The Supra which is arguably the RX-7's biggest competitor came in third after a Skyline and Viper.
Which one do you think is the better all around car?

So you guys dont like type-r's? Becuase I really want one lol.. Personally I would rather have a supercharged type-r rather than a STOCK wrx. And I would rather not have an MR2 becuase the only way they are really competitive is with lots of mods. Eclipses I just think are too fat looking. Its just what I like =[ I cant help it.. All I want is a fast car I can buy and throw a few more mods on to it and run like 12's then ill be the happiest little kid around! I dont have the time or money to buy a supra or rx-7 or I would for sure! And Civic's are just not in my mind anymore. There are just to dam many. Actually I take that back about the MR2's they are fast cars with only a few mods, but I would rather have a type r =\

it kinda depends on what type of racing your doing, for drag, it might be a close call but if on a road course/drift/highspeed(top speed) type of racing, a FD will/should be able to kick a Type-R's ***. If not, its probally the driver and not the car.

well my previous car was an ITR and let me tell you that it is a very fun car to drive. you can be a shitty *** driver and still corner like a pro.
The FD on the other hand takes a bit to get used to, but in time you'll be able to corner as well/better than the ITR..
Accel on the other hand FD hands down
it all depends on what you want to do, .. all though you gotta facter in that the FD's a 10 yr old car and **** happens...

Heheh..don't even think that driving a FWD car will prepare you for driving a RX-7 or any RWD car for that matter.
I raced my Celica GT-S with a 35 shot of nitrous reguraly on the track and on the strip (60shot), and it doesn't even compare to driving an RX-7. Even launching is different...you can't just leave it at 5k and dump the clutch on a 7..otherwise you're asking for it.
Oh..and the USCC comp is over...it was
The Viper won..but who woulda thought that would happen>

If your serious, and money is no object... check at some of the performance shop like Pineapple Racing or KD Rotary... They usually have customers post cars for sale.... or they know who's selling ,,,

cool but how much is an FD, a nice and clean one. The Type R runs low 13's at 8-9 psi. I think he can dip into 12's with tons more boost.

but its ok id say umm 15 grand for a good fd that is modded a bit. u can find um for that but that all depends on where in the country u are. plus
fd = handling machine.
integra = rice wit gay wing
sorry i jus had too
The FD will be faster for less money. And a ITR with 9 psi of boost is probably way less reliable that a FD. Remeber a FD can run hi 13 low 14 Stock. With very little upgrades you would be in the 12's.
