How much did you pay for your car?
I am just wondering how much you all payed for your cars and how many miles and what upgrades you came with it or if it was just bone stock. I am really leaning tword getting a fd. The only problem is I am thinking I won't be able to afford it.
Right now I currently own a 1985 gs so I am atleast getting myself framilierized with rotaries and I love them. The only problem I am having is my car lacks so much power
. Also what are some of the major problems you have with fd's. With my current car I haven't had any problems yet *knock on wood*. Thanks.

If you can barely afford the car, I doubt you'll be able to afford fixing it when it breaks. Just wait a little while until you know you can afford an FD and have extra money to fix it.
You can always swap a different engine in your '85 to make it plenty fast, but I know nothing about fb's so ask some people in the 1st gen section about that.

I don't know if I can afford it, thus why I am asking you guys a question here. I love my car but not the power, I don't really like the 2nd gen look that much but the 3rd gen looks awesome imo.
if u put that money into your 1g it will fly. u can do some fun stuff with those 12a`s, but if u want some big power think about a tII swap or something.
i paid 12900, 100% stock, 83k
great mechanical condition, havnt had the slightest problem yet...gah, im waitin for it though. haha

Thanks, so another question here is did you guys take out loans for your car or what? I am 19 right now living on my own since I was 18 so I mean it's not like I am rich of anything but this month I am going to check out to get going to college and was thinking with taking out the loans for that I might be able to or I midas well take out a loan for a new car haha
.

I don't know if I want to wait till I am out've college because man that is a long ways away. Do any of you regret buying this car? I am just wondering how worth it the car really is. It seems like a great car and I have been doing a lot of reading tonight on it and see there are things that need to be upgraded such as the cooling system and what not.
93 SS Base model w/ R1 seats 135k miles on original with SMIC, intake, DP, CB- $10.5K
93 Red Base w/ Leather wing. 86K on chassis 21k on reman, CB. fresh coat of paint. Perfect condition-$12K
Paid in cash for both. On my current FD I have put over $7k on mods and maint. in a year.
You can get some good power out of that 12A. You can also drop a 85 GSL-SE block on that with some nice ports motor some nice carbs open exhaust and it be fast trust me. My neighbord had a RX-3 WAGON (heavier that coupes) with a 13b ported and carburated and it ran 12's all day long.

I bought my 94 Touring FD with 67,000 miles for 9,700 USD from a 50 year old lady. It leaked EVERYTHING, i mean everything... Gas, oil, coolant, boost, exhaust. clutch slipped. it was a nightmare... I took it to KD Rotary, and 2400 dollars later, i took it home, leak free, with a ACT stage 4 clutch, and 12-10-13 boost. Runs like a dream. For 12,100 i think i got a good deal. Anyone disagree?
94 R2, 44K miles, PFS stock mount IC, G-Force ECU, Turbonetics 60-1, crossed drilled, N1 dual, centerforce dual friction.
Bought it for $8,000 at an auto auction with blown engine in 2003.
And i am in college, its hard but i managed to do it. I replaced engine with a used one w/ 100K miles ran it for 4 months, blew that engine, parked the car for 1 and a half years. This is when being in college sucks, had to save money for upgrades, or get good credit :-D
Sold the IC, clutch and 60-1, replaced it with T04R, Greddy FMIC, ported engine.
Point is it really sucks to be in college having an FD, luckily i have many engine parts and stuff laying around, and i also do all of my work, that helps alot.
Good luck, you can do it, if you manage your money well. Also have a "beater" car on the side.

When I was 19 I wanted an FD desperately.
There was NO way I could afford it back then as a student. Waited till I graduated and started working as an engineer. I paid Aus$28k for a series 6 with 113'000km completely stock. Borrowed money to buy it, October last year.
I worked it out and *thought* I could afford it. But I forgot to include all the small things (buying tools so I can work on the car, cleaning products, floor jacks and stands, etc) so when I got sprung for a new LIM gasket it really hurt the hip pocket.
I can afford it, but it's costing more than I had anticipated. It's OK though - I love the car more than I had anticipated also
EDIT: Forgot to add - got the FD last year when I was 23

'93 BB R1, 77K, clean title, excellent shape, all original, $7,500 2.5 years ago
have 105K on it now and really nothing in it except for routine maintenance and upgrades. Still on the original engine and still running great with the exception of a small boost leak currently.
I've considered selling it a few times, but all it takes is a quick drive and those thoughts escape my mind immediately.
If it was me, I would fight back the urges, stick with the 1st gen for a while and try for the FD in a few years so you can learn more about it and save up some cash. I also wouldn't underestimate the 1st gen, like everyone else mentioned, it doesn't take much to improve them, especially when they're so light.

1993 silver ( dont know the actual name for the color) touring. bone stock. 27,250 paid 14,250. excellent condition. interior, mechanical, the whole nine yards. listen dude, my dad told me one time, get what u want. my advice to you, get what u want. do what u have to do, but get what u want, you'll be happier that way. if u have to wait a while to get it..do that but get what u want. i knew what i wanted a japanese sports car just didnt know what i wanted, ( was shooting for a supra, lol). eithe way it is a great car if u take care of her, and lotz of fun to drive. good luck in your search.
