Talking How Much To Convert Auto To 5speed?

I WAS JUST WONDERING HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO CONVERT FROM AN AUTO TO 5 SPEED. MY 7 HAS A NEW REMAN ENGINE AND I WANTED TO KNOW IF I WOULD HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER ENGINE IF I WERE TO CONVERT IT. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME PRICES AND OPINIONS ON WHAT YOU THINK I SHOULD DO. THANKS

It's very hard to give you a specific cost, as that it will depend greatly on how much of it you are going to do yourself, if you buy new or used parts (and how good a deal you get), and whether you get aftermarket parts instead of OEM. (ex, a light weight flywheel vs a used OEM, which you can get for maybe as little as $50, or less)

I've heard everything from $1000 DIY to over $5000.

The link below was search using the terms "auto", manual", and "conversion", limited to only the 3rd gen Section. Lot's of stuff here about doing a conversion, just need to look.

Most of the numbers I've heard are about 3k, but I got quoted 5k for it at a local rotary shop. I have been told that is VERY high. It was probably incuding all new parts....I didn't get the details after hearing the price.

*yawn* I have a 5 spd ecu on ebay for cheap.... and a 6 puck clutch and pressure plate for cheap if you are seriously considering doing a swap. If you have any serious questions, other than price, on doing the swap, please feel free to IM me.

It is very cheap if you go used parts, and it is very easy depending on what you consider easy. Hell its basically unbolting and bolting on parts, other than the electrical harness, which is easy to do. You do not have to use the 5 speed block, as numerous people have done the swap with no altercations using the Auto block. I honestly didn't really see any differences other than one bolt hole that doesn't line up. If your seriously thinking of doing it, do it! You will not regret it, The pull that you feel under WOT in 2nd and 3rd gear is undescribeable in reference to an auto in any gear. If you decided not to do it, I have a spare auto tranny and convertor you can send out to get modified, also for very cheap .... lol

I'd sell yours and buy a manual. A conversion will be very pricey if done to match original.
