Its usually not the car that dictates the gas mileage but rather the foot pressing on the gas petal

A/C makes a big difference too. On long trips i can get 25 mpg on the highway without the A/C.

In they city I'll get as much as 20, and as little as 18 depending on my foot

geez i couldn't imagine paying as much as you guys do for gas.

Here in FL its 1.75 for 93 octane, and thats considered EXPENSIVE.

i got about 20 on the highway in my auto rx, taking it real real easy, i would imagine a 5 speed would get a little better, i have never calculated it in town, but i think there is a big difference between the highway and city driving, i now have a 5 speed though, hooray for me

I get 10-14mpg city, 18-26mpg highway depending on how I drive. Car is mostly stock.

Recently bought a new daily driver.. Dodge Ram with a 5.7 L V8 Hemi engine. My co-workers were calling me crazy because of its gas mileage, but it's the same as my car (for my city driving commute.. the RX-7 gets better on the highway). Having another car as a daily driver is really great; I no longer have to feel bad daily for abusing my car with a no-fun-to-drive commute in traffic. Highly recommended.

21 Hwy 16 City. Yeah... you shouldn't have gotten a 7 if you are going to be "broke" after bying gas for it. You need $ for the Mods. (:

I question the capacity of the fuel tank. Mazda claims 20 gals. Everytime I fill up ( I do so as soon as the light comes on) it only takes about 16.5 gallons. Is there that much reserve in the tank?

Oh and I get about 16 mpg in the city.

Now having seen all of your mileages, I am concerned with mine. I'm getting 10-12 mpg on NO BOOST. I have a boost gauge and I hardly ever get on boost. I shift before 3500 rpm.

What can I do to improve my mileage at least to standard levels. Don't tell me to ease off on the throttle. Serious answers please...like O2 sensor, clean injectors, etc.

Tonight I'm going to change the O2 sensor and clean the injectors. Anything else that might cause low mileage? I just rebuilt the motor with street port. Have new spark plugs. I've only driven 300-400 miles on the motor so far. I tried spraying carb cleaner around the intake system to check for vacuum leak but can't find one. I show 14in.hg vacuum at 850 rpm but usually after driving and then coming to a stop my idle sits at 1100-1200 rpm, why is that?

Okay, get ready to laugh and poke fun. I was installing my turbo timer yesterday and spliced the three ignition wires then attached the ground wire to my ecu where the ground strap is (my ecu is not mounted just sitting on the floor).

I turned on the key and the turbo timer wasn't working. So I tested the ecu cover for ground and it wasn't grounded. So I attached a strap from the cover to the body and then the turbo timer worked.

So this whole time my ecu wasn't grounded. How do you guys think the car would run without the ecu grounded? I noticed now that my car runs a lot smoother at low rpm without boost. I tried to drive the same as I was before and now I noticed that it runs a lot better. Do you think that it was causing me to run too rich? Causing the bad mileage and slow performance?

Thanks for all your guys' input.

I used to get about 200-220 per tank, but I have a feeling the addition all 1700cc injectors and a street port will make that number go way down.
