This question I think someone else already posted sometimes in the past. I have a 93 I bought with 105,000 with five previous owners. I think its the original engine maybe. I have put 25,000 miles in three years and it seems to be o.k. But it does go through a little oil every three thousand miles. I always smell burning oil recently and after I installed a HKS exhaust my turbos seem to be coming onstream much quicker. I have been thinking of just using unleaded instead of super because I think with this mileage its probably going to blow soon maybe. After reading some of the replies to this question, I feel very lucky about my car. I bought it without really getting fully inspected. I think with these cars, theres a little bit of a gamble all ways. So my advice to anyone out there ready to buy one, is be prepared to spend alot of money and time.

1) Its hard to find good quality 87 octane.
2) "super" is a higher octane than "regular", and thus it burns cooler. You want to keep the combustion chamber as cool as possible with the RX7, and cooler burning fuel helps out greatly. Good luck

62K on original engine/turbos. Compression low (worn side seals), still some life in the old dog. Turbos seem ok. I change the oil every 1000 miles.
stock except for a downpipe & some other misc items.
