How Low Is Your Fd?
I just bought my car (93 touring) and no mention was ever made about it being lowered but I assume it is because it rubs like hell with the stock sized tires and rims. Does this mean its lowered or is it the aftermarket rims (different backspacing is all I can figure) the rims are 16" tsw's and the tires are dunlop sp 900's or something like that in the stock size.

I'm at about 25" fender height front, 25.25" rear w/ GC coilovers. I run 275/40, 235/45 17" tires that account for the slight difference.
it looks just about perfect, with nearly zero gap, but not such that it looks like a show car either. No rubbing w/ 500/400 spring rates.
My standard Sears floor jack BARELY clears the pinch weld along the side.

I'm keeping my FD 'jacked up' stock look. It will come back in style one day. Maybe I'll put in some spacers and raise it some more
I've kept my old Yamaha receiver (silver) from the early 80's when for 20 yrs receivers went all black. Now silver is back in style
on sort of a side note here....
Does anyone know how much ride height difference there is between new and broken in upper mounts? I just installed new front upper mounts on my car tonight since the bump stops and dust boots were slaughtered on my original set. What about break-in time on the upper mounts?.....as in how long it will take for the spring to seat into the bottom of the upper mount enough so that the imprint stops.

I'm still trying to figure that out in my head and calculate about the same thing for amount of preload that the car will be able to sag to when under weight....
I may look at both and make measurements.... it'd be a pain, but if other people wanted to know, I'd check it out just so that someone doesn't have to later...
Are there any noticable handling characteristics that make newer upper mounts better? As far as I can tell, the rubber only gets stiffer as it gets older. And unless the upper mounts are falling apart, would there be another reason they should be changed out?

didn't notice a change in handling. but the suspension did get quieter over bumps b/c of the new rubber parts.
a rotary mechanic once said they should also be changed out b/c when they get real hard and brittle with age, you risk the strut piston thing in the middle busting through there and tapping the hood.

Ha ha.....that's hilarious. I just woke up from a nap and had the same thought..... Its probably better over bumps.... I'm either stupid and good at figuring things out, or else I'm smart and just really slow... Speaking of new rubber parts, I have a bag of 6 pillow ball bushings from Mazda that I have to installed..... anybody wanna let me use their hydraulic press this weekend?
