How to keep interior heat down during summer?
Hey I was wondering anyone else has suffered from the heat amitting from the horse and under the dash? I mean ofcourse its going to be hot during summer but I'm talking about really sweaty hot and hot to touch the horse when shifting gears. Does anyone know how to get this minimal?
Turn on the air conditioner??Seriousely, get one of those twist together windshield visors. And use an old gloveto cover the shifter.

buy a sun visor, and leave either the sun roof tilted or the windows cracked just a bit, just use a little common sense not like you can air condition the car while it's off. Just prevent as much heat as possible from getting in (sun visor) and let some heat escape (cracked windows)
think about getting some good tint for the windows...
Huber Optik makes a ceramic based film. I played with a display for 40%huber vs. a 20%high grade film under a heat lamp. The 20% was very warm...move over to the Huber and boom...no heat! Pretty amazing! Problem is the expense for the ceramic based films.

I think you have a lot of heat coming into the cabin from the main cat.
Two solutions:
1)Replace the main cat with a midpipe - This is, of course, illegal if your car is street driven
2)Put down heat barrier underneath the carpeting around the transmission tunnel and the passenger footwell.
BTW, I highly recommend window tinting as well.
On second thought, do you still have that nuclear reactor of a precat? If you do, you need to get rid of that and replace it with a downpipe. I think this is going to be your cure.

But you didn't say whether you still have a stock precat. Do you?
I have a dp and mp and my transmission tunnel still gets quite warm on longer summer trips. My CD player and the CD's playing in it get freaking hot. Also, this is not an engine cooling issue as I try to keep engine temps under 210F.
My suggestion would be to try and get more air flow through the engine compartment. I don't have any specific suggestions though.

I think either of those two things would help in your case.
When I replaced the precat and the cat with a downpipe and a midpipe, both coated with ceramic coating, I noticed a drastic difference in the temperature of the transmission tunnel.
Here you go https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ht=tranny+heat
I did this last summer.
Basically get some heat shielding material from Summit Racing. I would recommend the thicker stuff that has some sound proofing for to cover the huge opening in the tranny tunnel. From the inside of the car, cut a small enough hole in the mat to get it over the shifter and stuff it down into the tranny tunnel through the hole. Use rivets or screws to attach it to the factory heat shielding.
You can also use the "heat screen" material with with the above or by itself, which is what I did. Place a large sheet over the tranny tunnel and high-temp glue it in place. That by itself helped tremendously. The mat stuff is thicker and will reduce noise to a degree.
Wrap the downpipe as well. I was really surprised how much that helped in cutting down heat in the cabin. It also quieted the car slightly.
Lastly, Redline MTL in the tranny noticeably reduced how hot my shifter felt while also making it easier to shift.
