Jim,

That makes sense about tying the tunnel together. I might be in on a group buy. I would have to look at a cage as an alternative, as I don't think adding this brace would provide more benefit than just the cage, and that is in the long term plan.

Cheers,

Steve

I e-mailed Jason of RX7forum about starting a group buy thread but have not heard back from him yet.

I did speak to Derrick of Corksport and he tells me that at least a 12% discount with 10 or more buyers.
There may be further discount to 15% if all the parts can be grouped and shipped together to the US to defray the shipping cost.

12% discount on $550 works out to $484.00
15% discount would work out to $467.50

There would be about a 6 week delivery time(shipping by sea).

I'll start a group buy thread once it is approved by Jason.

Steve, I'd say that a welded-in cage would have far more influence on chassis rigidity, depending on the number of points tied together and their location. The brace is a nice-to-have, in my opinion, but also falls into the category of "can't hurt".

I e-mailed and PM'd Jason to obtain his approval of a group purchase thread about a week ago.

He never responded to me.

So, I posted a thread titled "AUTO-EXE bar group purchase?" in the group buy section to see if there was enough interest in such a group buy.

"Mysteriously", that thread was deleted.

I PM'd Jason if he wanted perhaps to comment on why the thread was deleted.

Once again, no reply.

All I can conclude from all of the above is that Jason doesn't want a group buy thread on this and he is just too busy to respond to me.

I have a few questions about chassis stiffness for anyone who wishes to answer:

Does the chassis become loose rigidity when miles are added? I'm wondering because my FD has 58k miles on it. How much looser is the chassis as compared to when it was new?

Will any bodyshop be able to diagnose the chassis and tell me in what condition it is?

How much does an accident affect the chassis rigidness if it's not very severe? Let's say the car was hit hard from the front and had the bumper replaced.

Lastly, can it be straightened?

Thanks.

He may be smarting from the last free GB he let me run... 100+ RaceLogic traction control units. Personally, I think that Matrix Engineering ought to do the right thing and pony up a sponsorship for the forum(s) that brought them so much business, but that's just me.

Edit: I sent an e-mail to Jeremy at Matrix Engineering and voiced my opinion that it was the right thing to do and asked him to contact Jason about becoming a forum vendor and paying for advertising.

I fitted the Cusco 40 PHi rear brace along with the floorpan triangle. Driving home after fitting was great fun, and a BMW that was keeping with me in the straight decided that he was pushing his luck going though some bends.

This made a big difference IMO, and I will be looking at the Auto Exe kit later in the year.

Well it's been a while since this thread has been visited, so any reviews on the braces?

Also I second the rubber gloves with the poly glue, it sticks and will NOT come off your skin until it wears off. No amount of caustic chemicals will take it off your hands. It wore off my hands after a couple days but stayed on my fingernails until they grew out. (This was while filling rubber motors mounts on my first car when I was 16. One of my first "mods")
