How to i take the Blue off...

My friend got his order for the shakitto plates in
http://www.more-japan.com/product.ph...1&cat=0&page=1

now instead of getting the chrome coat showed on the pictures we got 2 really nasty looking blue plates...

we wanna make it the original chrome or silver color. Do we just go at it with a sander and jsut clear coat it afterwards?

Why do you need this, car is a coil over design not McPherson strut distortion of the top shock mount is not moving key suspension points.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anodizing won't rub/clean off.
It needs to be etched in mild acid.

There is a group-buy for FC and FD e-brake 'drift-style' spin ***** still going on and they sell
red, blue and black anodized *****. many of the people in that group wanted to remove the
anodizing and the seller made a great post in the thread about using 'oven cleaner.'
I beleive the seller is Japan2La(for the search). But maybe this could work for your shakitto
plates?

It looks to me like those are just adding needless weight.

"Improved brake response and stability is gained by adding the Shakitto Plate! This is a completely brand new product by Nagisa Auto that helps reduce the load on the shock towers, especially during heavy braking.
Drastic improvements are achieved without needing to modify or weld the frame with obtrusive support bars. Bolts onto factory locations, and can complements a tower brace setup. "

I am very skeptical.

Go to yout local auto parts store and pick up some aircraft grade stripper. Be really careful with it, but it is powerful enough to remove anodizing. You just have to neutralize it with water after you "paint" it on. Dont leave it on the metal too long, it is better to neutralize it early and have to repeat the process rather than letting the stripper eat the metal

edit: This stuff...

I was just going to suggest aircraft stripper too! That stuff is strong though. I would highly recommend using disposable gloves working with it and washing it off right away if any gets on your skin.

It will almost strip anything, just be careful like I already said and dont let it sit too long cause it will start to break down the metal. Just let it bubble the paint/anodizing/etc then wipe off and neutralize with water.
