How Does Sponsership Work ?
Some one please explain to me if you could how this works. My rotary mechanic called me today and asked me if i would want to try and get my car sponsered(for drag racing), he said he would put up $18,000 to do what changes he thinks is right for the car (keeping it a full interior, full body car) but the car would have to be trailered around the country going from race to race trying to get sponsers, the car is already fast but i would like to make it a 8 sec. car but i dont have the money to do that right now unless i let my mechanic pay for it, but then i gotta trailer car around. What do u all think about this

personally i like my car how it is, MINE
getting sponsers is easy, get noticed... then they will want you to have their products (and name) on your car.
first you will have to take pictures of the car, then do something impressive (like run a 9 second quarter mile) send a proposal to the company who you want to sponser you with info and pics.
they will respond.
I sincerely doubt you will get any cash, but you might get a set of tires, or maybe a blowoff valve

personally i don't think i'd ever want to be sponsored... i hate the tacky stickers and well, i want it to be what I feel is best for the car not what someone else thinks ya know? now if i could get someone that would let me make decisions as long as i run them past them and they were pretty leiniant about it, then... well... maybe

In life, many things are negotiable. Talk to the sponsors. See what they have to offer. Tell them what you want. If you like what they have to offer, and they are reputable people, get a contract. Have it specify exactly how your arrangement will be done. If you are not familiar with contracts, have a legal advisor prepare one for you. Don't sign anything unless you are completely satisfied that it is correct.

It's nice to be sponsored, I thought about that a long time ago...but come to think of it, yeah it's nice to get free stuff but now you basically be at their mercy...you will have to fly their sticker and now look like a ricer and if you go down to the 9 or 8 second club that would be cool since you will get a lot of respect but you wont enjoy your car on the street anymore....That's just me though..
