Well as typical half *** kids have owned my car before me the jack, wheel chock, spare tire, and tools were all missing. I've been locating everything and putting everything back in, now I've come to the point of putting the jack in, the bracket that is spot welded to the chassis is there, but the jack just sits there and there is nothing to secure it in place, what am I missing? I've searched to no avail.
Probably not. IIRC, place the jack either base down or on its side (can't remember for sure) with the spot-welded bracket on the top of the jack. Then spin the screw adjustment of the jack until the top of the jack rises and presses against the bracket...securing it in place and keeping it from rattling.
On the passenger side under the little cover to reveal the tools, there is the spot welded on base with a wire loop attached to it. They may have removed that loop. You have the jack fully compressed, set it down on the base, then raise the jack a little so the loop of wire goes over the slot in the top of the jack (where it would normally go around the frame rail of the car).
I think if you can find the owner's manual it may have drawings showing how that all goes in there.
