How do you test Actuators with a Mityvac

Guys,

Bought a mityvac and have started on the vac hose job, tested the check valves and found 2 were leaking something chronic. Ordered some nice Viton ones from Dale Clark...hurrah

The next stage is testing the solenoids and replacing with Viton hoses.

When I am done with this I want to test the Actuators.

How do I do this with a Mityvac ?

Apologies for my patch knowledge,

Gareth

Just hook it up, pump it up, and make sure the actuator moves. There may be some specs about how much it should move at what pressures in the FSM but i dont know.

Make sure you only apply pressure to the ones expecting pressure and vice versa though, or you might blow them up.

If the Mityvac doesn't have a pressure gauge, you'll need an extra tee fitting to get a reading on the applied pressure. (That's why I like the mityvac 4050 kit - the gauge reads pressure).

The precontrol and wastegate actuators have two nipples - you'll need to use a tee fitting to join them or plug one.

Generally, they will pass the factory spec, which nebulously states that at a certain pressure the actuator should move. (How far it should move, it doesn't say). I would basically focus on if they open steadily and smoothly as you add pressure, and that they are fully open by 8psi. Don't go over 15psi. Also leave them pressurized for a minute and be sure they don't have any leaks.
