How Do Turbo Timers Work?

I mean I know what their function is, but...

the e-brake allows the TT to engage and continue idling the engine, right?

What prevents someone from hopping in, keeping the e-brake engaged and just driving off with my car?

It also senses which gear you are in, if you try putting the car in 1st, the car will turn off.

Hopefully your brakes are good enough so that they can't drive off with the ebrake up. If the ebrake is let down (disengaged) the the car will shut off. Not everybody uses that feature.

yep...in order for the car to idle with u out it must be in nuetral, once you or someone else puts it in gear (to drive off) then it will kill the motor.

So wait, which is it? Is the e-brake the safety, or putting it in gear.

legendr35's setup isn't very theft resistant.

Are different TTs setup in different ways?

I'll get one if the gear safety is incorporated into any or all of them. Otherwise, I'm not taking my chances.

My TT(Greddy) has Ebrake sensor and also speed sensor signal input
so either pushing eE-brake down or moveing the car will shut down the car.
I had to connect 1 wire to e-brake S/W and another one to ECU.

i have the apex'i auto timer. it has an option to hook it up to the parking break so if its lowered when the timer is counting down the engine will shut off.

i used a greddy wiring harness for easy installation. no wire splicing. just remove the panel underneath the dash board and plug and play.

i didnt add the parking brake option.

the timer is one of the smallest made. about the size and thickness of your middle finger.

mine is mounted in the glove box and dosent take up any space at all.

about 80-100 dollars for the timer. 10-20 dollars for the wiring harness.

Some have both features. I have the HKS type 1 and don't know if it has the gear option or not so I used the ebrake feature for extra security.
All tt's are different.
I think all of them have the ebrake feature.

The steering will lock with the key out.

But if someone jumps in and drives off in a straight line with the e-brake on, I guess they could get away.
