Question How do I setup the ECU with no MOP??

I'd like to run my stock ECU with no metering oil pump.

Is there some easy way to 'trick' the ECU into thinking the MOP is there and working?

Is there a way to disable the part of the ECU that send the 'check engine' alarm?

Will I have to upgrade/replace my ECU?

im pretty sure u can leave it pluged in and just tuck it off to the side somewhere. u might be able to put a resistor or something in place of it but im not sure about that

While I do still have the MOP in the car, I can't plug it in because it fried my last computer - and if it's faulty, it's still going to trip my computer warning light.

We're talking about a ten pin wiring harness here. I assume something can be built to plug into it instead of the MOP.

Has anyone done this?
Or, is there an easier way?

the ONLY 2 things you can do are
1) tuck it over to the side
2) maybe have the ecu reprogrammed to not have the diagnistics???

I've found a MOP for a decent price, but the install is a bitch. About $900 worth at a reputable shop.

What is everyone else without a MOP doing?????

Hi FD Seeker,

$900 bucks for an install? That seems extremely, extremely expensive. You can reach it from the bottom of your car with a couple of extensions - there are three 10mm bolts and you will probably want to replace the eliptical gasket. The hardest part is rerouting the lines for the harness - becareful not to snap the hard oil lines. Goodluck - Tommy
