if you dont want to remove the dash(supposed to)...you can take a really sharp knife and cut it. there is a really think rubber mat that is adhered to the carpet so you have to cut hard. then just pull like damnit. good luck. i did it and am very happy not to have the baby **** brown interior. ---j

taking the dash off is NOT fun.
If I was doing it (I removed the carpet from my wrecked r1) I'd just cut it, there is foam under the feet area that will tear because some sticks to the floor and some to the carpet.

the place where I noticed it was stuck was where the passengers feet go. I never tried pulling out the drivers side but it looked like it would come out maybe. probably not haha.
just remember how to put the damn car together its hard
label some bags with a lot of details about where **** goes or you will regret it

The headliner is easy to replace. Remove center light, remove both sun visors, remove door trim from headliner area, pull "B" pillar panel away from body at the headliner area (not necessary to remove panel) just enough to get to plastic push pin. You will have to pop loose several clips near rear hatch area. I'll see if I can find the body diagram of locations of clips. Just take your time and don't force things too hard.
