You know what you'll get if you ask the RX-7 Forum, but the honest truth is that they are even enough in stock form that it will come down to the driver. The RX-7 handles better and has better brakes, but the Z has more torque and is a more comfortable cruiser.

You can make more power with the Z, but it is a lot heavier so it needs more power. You see more RX-7s at drag strips and road racing tracks, if that tells you anything.

I've been told a stock RX can run 13.8's stock. I saw a stock tt Z run a 14.7. But like Max said alot depends on the driver.

as stock...... i would say that the rx7 has the edge by a little...... as for potential rx7 by far. the 400+lbs difference come into play bigtime....... which means, it can be made to corner better, accelerate better, and stop better

Test drive them both. I can't imagine a car like the 300zx TT having the feel of a 3rd gen rex, which is practically orgasmic.

Stock for stock, there's no way a 300ZX TT could beat an FD (straight line or curves). That is, unless the FD driver is a 6 year old. The Z is a luxury-sports car...big, bulky, a bunch of feel good goodies inside, etc. While the FD (especially R1s or R2s) is a pure sports cars...light weight, compact size, and for R models...dual oil coolers, no sunroof, no rear window wipers, sportier suspension, no cruise control, etc.

I have a couple friends w/ 300zx turbo's w/ your basic bolt-on's. Few things I've come to realize about them in general.
A. They're pig heavy
B. They're very expensive to mod
C. They're slow as **** even when modded (fastest I've seen w/ bolt on's was a high 12)
D. They're tranny sucks. I've seen two break in a matter of 5k.

You'll smoke any Z with just a couple bolt on's.

The stock 300 zx has the fastest 1/4 times out of Rx7 and supra. Its not by much so depends on the driver.

i like the rx7 cuz it's more suped' down and looks more of a meaner sports car than a z. but then again, they r both rated at the same, but as for reliabilty, i don't trust nissan as much as some mazda's(miata,rx's,protoge's)

it's up to u for what looks better to u, ofcource nissan's got teh t-tops. thats bad ***, but rx is a rx. can't beat it

Haha ... use the search button. You'll find another thread exactly the same as this one.

The 300z forum has this thread too, but of course over there ... the nissan will win everytime.

It depends on the driver really.

I have both 93 FD and 95 300zxTT. If you have a lot of money the 7 is a better choice because of the weight difference and is easier to mod. But I don't care what anyone says their engines suck fat ones. Don't get me wrong their great for about 30,000 miles but after that it's all down hill. I have had my 7 for about 3 years and I just rebuilt my third engine, with the better seals like before, oil change every 2000 miles, I mean I baby it and it still breaks down. On the other hand my Z with about 2 more grand into is as fast as the the 7 and I have put 68,000 miles on it and NOT ONE PROBLEM. I love them both but I am just sick of putting money in the 7.

The Supra had the fastest times from the tests I have seen, but again they are all so close it would likely come down to driver in a real race.
