how common was blk/red color combo?
im looking into getting a FD int eh next 2 months or so and i have been primarily looking at colors and options since they all basically have the same performance (granted the "R" models handle a hair better and have 2 oil coolers) but i NEED a sunroof, can't live without one. so that means i gotta have a touring edition. so that cancels out CYM as an exterior, so does price. anyway i say a 93 touring once that had a black exterior with a red leather interior, and it looked VERY good so thats my top choice now. my question is, how many cars were made with a black ext and a red int and a 5 speed, all years included. how likely is it that i will be able to find a car like i am looking for?

Haha, 7wannabe you sound just like me. I'm into "pure" sports cars but still need the sunroof! I think every car me and anyone in my family has ever owned has had a sunroof, and I drive w/ mine open all the time!
As far as black w/ red interior, that combo is VERY rare from what I can tell. I don't have any numbers, but I have only seen 1 in person and mayve 3-4 ever for sale in that combo. Good luck in finding one! I personally want silver w/ red, that seems a bit more common, as it seems 1 out of every 3 or 4 silver RX7s has the red interior. If you can't find one, I guess you could buy a black/tan one and try and find a wrecked silver/red and get all the interior parts.
peace

Mazda imported 1015 black 93 tourings, only about 250 black 94 tourings, and 150 black 94 PEPs.
Mazda dropped the red interior option halfway through 94 so assume about 1100-1200 black sunroofed cars.
They likely imported less than 100 of black/red w/sunroof.

I'd get a black 94 and pay around 500 or so for some brand new red leather seatcovers from www.leatherseats.com. Just my 27 cents.

The perfect combo for you would definitely be '94 BB PEP with red leather (I agree moonroof is better than sunroof ONLY in black, otherwise I think it looks funny with a black spot on the roof), there may only be less than 10 ever made in that combo though. You can always just convert a tan or black interior to a red one though. I love black/red, one of the best combos and extremely extremely rare, possibly the rarest color combination of all (any ideas on what might be rarer? White with red interior maybe, is this possible?)

I didnt even know that the fd came in Blk/Red, till i bought it and i hate it every day, i hate the color red, especiall in my interior. Do you know that everything is freaking red, the head liner, the bins, the visors and even the freaking seat belt. Sorry for venting. I would kill for a black on black R1 or R2. I hate sunroofs/moonroofs, thats the only thing i cant change aobut my touring. And yes Blk/Red is a very rare combo, i guess i was lucky/unlucky enough to find it. White with red is possible if you want to buy my red interior and put it in a White fd. I'm seriously looking into doing a complete black interior swap.

rx7will - refinish all the interior red plastic pieces with some black vinyl color spray and get a set of Black seat covers from LeatherSeats.com as posted above and a Black headliner set - If your Red leather is in good shape I need to redo my drivers seat and might be interested in buying the leather off yours.
Ps I decided Not to get thse Turbos from you because I am waiting to Upgrade to 99 spec set.

I have a black and red rx-7. at first I didn't like it, but the colors grew on to me. however, I must agree that it is too red on the inside and I had to change my seats to a two-tone black and red and change speaker grills to black. at least the carpet is black. but I THINK the black and red was discontinued after 93 or 94 but don't quote me on it.

I think the Silver/red exterior and interior are beautiful. To tell you the truth I love the S2000 silver/red comb, but I rather have my rex.
