How to check if the OMP is bad?

What signs should i look for when checking if the OMP is bad? Also, i have heard that the oil pressure sending unit? is know for its failure...where can i check that or am i just totally lost here?

If your OMP is bad, the check engine light will come on. You can also check for leaks (how I discovered mine was going bad). The oil pressure sending units go bad or get dirty. Try cleaning it with a stiff brush. Look a few inches below the oil filter on the driver's side. You should see an electrical connector there.

If your OMP is bad, try to get a low mileage used one, they are about $1400 new! Mazda

The check engine light will come on and it should put you in "limp" mode.
