How can you tell the difference between a manual and automatic ECU?

hey everyone. i recently brokered a deal on a '93 RX7 5-speed for a friend, and the car came with 2 ECU's. One was a Power FC and the other is a stock ECU. The guy who sold the car said he wasn't sure if the stock ECU was out of a 5-speed or automatic RX7. is there any way to tell the difference between the two? He told me there were no part numbers on the outside case...thanks!

The car wont run right with the auto ecu. I tryed it on mine. My car was a auto and when I swapped to 5spd I had to get a 5spd ecu. Sorry, I don't know how to tell by looking at it.

they are diffrent. if its an auto ecu, and your car is a 5speed, try plugging it up. i dont think it will even start on a 5speed, b/c the car has to be in park to start.
if it runs fine, then its a 5speed ecu. assuming you have a 5speed tranny.
