Question How can u tell if u r hitting the fuel cut or my ignitions is breaking up?

Hey I was coming back E-town raceway track on Sunday and I was getting on my car here and there, I notice if I am in 3rd gear it start to hesiate on me when I full throttle it? For the pass 8 years I own this car I never exprience this before. I am still making full boost and no the engine is not dead. My main question is can u tell the difference between fuel cut or ignitions breakup? Khris

Its hard to say. It could be a few items. Bad tank of gas is one that comes to mind. You fill up with a tank of something before this started to happen? You cant check much with that ECU. I would upgrade it to a stand alone. You can make more power and can tune it if you run into a problem such as this. Also your likely to get half of what you need just by selling the M2 unit. With all your mods I would really take tuning the car more seriously than a plug and play ECU.

You really can't mistake fuel cut. Kind of like your car losing all boost when it hits. When was the last time you changed your spark plug wires?

As far as switching to a programmable ECU, I think that's a little extreme for this problem.

i agree you would know if it was fuel cut it basically throws you forward and you loose all boost. if it's just hesitatiion you might also want to check your fuel filter.

If you're on it hard and all of a sudden it falls on it's face it's fuel cut. At what boost level and RPM does this happen? If you are at high RPM and only moderate boost levels and the power just seems to peeter out it's probably time to check the plugs and or coils. If you cant' remember when you changed your fuel filter do it now, same goes with your plugs and maybe even your wires. You can also check to see if you have any engine codes or just reset the ECU. If as soon as you hit possitive manifold pressure it falls on it's face, then you are in limp mode, reset the ECU. Could also be low gas tank, bad battery ground, etc. Specify RPM and boost level, this will give us a better idea.
