How Can I turn the Boost Down???

I installed Turbo XS Boost Controller because i was having 13psi with intake, dp and catback. I turned the valve to close all the way and i have more boost now. I think it's boosting around 14-15. I didn't want to hold it long at WOT but that's what i got.

Anybody have a sugestion of what i should Do? I was thinking of puting the stock hose with the pill in it back on.

Please reply with your sugestions.

THANKS

Did you disconnect the hoses from the acuators(sp?) going to the stock boost controller? If you don’t then it will cause you to over boost, and eventually blow your engine.

I didn't disconect any other hoses. All i did is (you can see from this picture that i got on Rob Robinettes' web site) i disconnected the hose that was going from turbo to acuator, and i put new hose in with the boost controller taped into it. The old hose had a small pill in it.

That's all I did, Now what did i do wrong? Can you please be more specific?

Thanks

Think about it.. you now have TWO boost controllers trying to control boost.. I had the same problem when I instaled my Apexi AVC-R.. there is another set of lines comming off the acuators.. you have to cut them and cap them off.

In that picture i don't see any other lines for the primary turbo. Do you have any pictures or anything that could help me out?

nope.. sorry went single turbo a while back.. they're there you just have to look for them. It's a real bitch getting to them because they go twards the engine. It helps to remove as much stuff as you can in that area.

Ok... off each acuator is TWO nipples w/ vacuum lines. one on each goes to the turbos, and the other two goes to the stock boost controller. Now you don’t have to do anything with the boost controller itself. All you have to do is cap the nipples that are on the acuator. I did it the ghetto way.. cut the vacuum lines and put thick bolts in them. you can actually buy vacuum line caps.

Your first mistake was to use a boost controller to turn boost down. You can't. The second set of actuator's is underneath the 1st.

Bret,

I was looking thru the AVCR disk that Chris burned me. It shows exactly what you have to cap and what you connect to what.

...So you can thank Hugh for your blown engine It's right there in english. I had to use it when I went non-sequential because I ripped out all the stupid stock crap, and forgot where some of the lines went.

Stock boost was 13 psi wasn't it? You can't turn it lower than stock boost other than disconnecting an intercooler hose

yes, but you dont have to worry about capping the hose going to the stock boost controller.. it wont affect anything. and remember there are TWO acuators.. you have to do it to both of them.

Exclamation Counterclockwise

Closing the vavle increases boost!

You need to turn it to the left or open the vavle 1/4 turn for every 2lbs of boost.

So i closed it all the way clockwise.

Do you think that's wrong maybe?

Who said post count is relative to knowledge?

Remember, I don't just hang out in the 3rd Gen. I used to have an n/a and a TII. I've answered more than my fair share of those questions too. Besides, I'm on vacation...what do you think I do when Fuji's at work.

Easy way to check. Take off the boost controller. Attach a piece of silicone to both ends. Blow air into the "IN" section of the boost controller. You should feel air come out of the actuator side. If you have it the wrong way, you'll feel no air. Re-attach when you figure it out.

Stock boost is 10psi, and yes you can use a boost controller to go even lower than that, down to 7psi. This is with a Profec B but any boost controller should be able to do the same thing.
