How to beef up headlight wiring?
I've searched for a while now and cant find an answer to this. Whats the best way to beef up the headlight's wiring to accept higher wattage bulbs? Can the same "beefing up" be applied to the fog light wiring? I'm not planning on using some crazy wattage bulbs but I want the wiring to be able handle this load without melting or catching on fire. THANKS!

The stock wiring should be fine for regular lighting watts. Any bulb you would mainly use should be handled just fine by stock wiring. The wiring is replaced if you use a HID kit anyways if your going that route, otherwise there is no reason.

Hit up Google - I have seen kits a while back that's a real nice, clean harness with relays. Basically you tap into the stock low beam/high beam wires to switch the relays on, and you have a heavy gauge power wire going to the battery.
I almost want to say I saw Summit or JC Whitney carrying these wiring kits, BTW.
Actually, just did my own search . Painless Wiring has a kit, part number PRF-30815, that does the trick. Summit has it for $77. Painless stuff is SUPER well built and top quality, BTW.

Thanks Dale! That wiring kit looks nice. I looked around and I can't find one of these wiring kits for H3 bulbs. I was thinking of getting a relay and some good wire and run it parallel to the stock wiring harness of the stock fog lights. Will this give me similar results?

Seems like there should be a similar product for H3 bulbs - might need some Googling. You could always get another of the H4 harnesses and just splice into the connector.

I dont suggest beefing up ur light if your gonna use the same type of lights. the only time to upgrade would be when going hid. otherwise the harness that holds your bulb will start to melt and disfigure before your wireing does.

I installed the Painless wiring kit along with some narva "rally" bulbs and aligned my headlights. The difference these lights made was very worth the money. Everything lights up nicely and the light the bulbs create is very white.
The only problem I have is when I turn on my high beams and turn them back off, the lights stay in the high beam position until I turn the headlights off and turn them back on again. Thats the only way I can get them to go back into low beam mode. Also, my high beam light inside the cockpit is barely lit up when Im using the low beams. Other than that, Im very happy with this purchase. Any suggestions Dale?
Thanks

I have used 135/130 watt H4 bulbs (these were not the 65 watts type bulbs which look like 135/130 watt bulbs but are actual 135/130 watt H4 bulbs ) before in my fd and they were fine for over a year and 1/2 (closer to 2 years actually). in anycase, it never seemed to be a problem for me. how high wattage bulbs were you thinking of using?

I've used 80/100w on the headlights, they just burn out faster. For the fog lights I use 55w but have thought about 100w. I don't want to melt the lense or the wires, so I didn't try it.

Im using real 100/135w bulbs. The bulbs work in both low beam and high beam mode. My problem is they dont return to low beam mode when I use the high beam switch inside. The only way to bring them back to low beam mode is by turning off the headlights completely and turning them back on real quick.
