Hot air from the vents

I notice that even when I put the air to all the way cold inside the car, when I'm driving, it is always a bit hotter than the outside temp. If I change it to hot, it gets really hot like you would expect, but the cold is just not as cold as I'd expect.

Is this a problem with FDs? Anything that I can check?

I assume its on vent and the A/C switch isnt on. Mine and a friends does the same thing because of the heat these things make and the lack of insulation.

Mine does the same thing as well ever since I've had it. All other FD's I've ridden in also have a similar issue when the temperature is a littler warmer outside.

my previous & current FD's both do this.

i've found that pushing the air circulate button makes it stop.

Hell ANY car will do this! All cars have a 'positive ventilation system", ever since Chevy pioneered their "Astro Ventilation" back in the '60s. What happens is there is a constant flow of fresh air into the car with the HVAC setting on 'vent'. And if the air is hot outside, it will be even hotter as it works thru the car's vent matrix.

Now if you are experiencing REALLY hot temps, it COULD be that you have a heater control valve problem where a small amount of coolant is circulation thru the heater core.....

I see, no PFC here. Thanks for all of the replies, I was just making sure that it was a common occurance, since I wish that I could get some cold air once in a while...

I'm confused. Are you saying your AC is on and not cool? I know that when my car is sitting outside in the sun, it takes a long time for the car to cool, but they air coming out of my vents are cold.

If the car has been undercover (out of direct sunlight), the car cools with the AC very quickly.

Have you had your AC checked?

Mine does this as well. Whenever it's warm/hot out but I'm not running the A/C, I just switch the air to the defrost vents so the warm air isn't blowing on me. It does make quite a significant difference.
